Does anyone know the laws on carrying fixed blades specifically the Benchmade Adamas 375 for Virginia? it would be a huge help.

I believe the legal limit is 3". Adamas is 3.82 so it would qualify you for a misdemeanor if you are found with it. I also think its illegal to have knives in places that serve alcohol in VA. Correct me if I'm wrong anybody

Stupid question, but i suppose the folder nor the fixed blade Adamas series would be good for EDC?

When you boil it down, Virginia law is very simple: If it's a fixed blade, it has to be open carry. If its a folder, it can be carried concealed or openly. There are no length limits despite what so many ignorant people (and sometimes cops) say, because there is no mention of length anywhere in the most current version of the statute.

Not to be abrupt, but if presented with a legal question, telling the person questioning you that 'a few folks of BF told me...." won't get you anywhere. Yo should know your laws for the state, county and cities both backwards and forwards. No offense to the folks providing you with the info above, as it seems viable, but you should reserch it yourself.

 This almost goes without saying. Having hung out on this sub-forum for almost 10 years, a lot of the people with questions like this are young and have very little to no exposure on how the statutes work or where the most authoritative versions are stored. They sure as heck don't teach this in schools. It is my hope that asking here at least gives them a start to doing their own research and making an informed decision.

I don't think you will have any issues for carrying it because of the size. I go to virginia tech, and abide by the VT knife rules. The VT handbook states that you can carry anything with blade under 4 inches. I would assume that the handbook would go shorter if that was Virginia state law. I don't know the difference between carrying the fixed vs. folder, but the length i'd say you are fine
