Hi all, I am think of getting the Manhataxe from Laci Szabo and am wondering the legality of carrying it in a shoulder harness concealed in CA. 12020 doesnt seem to cover this. Help
Thanks

Chortle.

You're not the first one to think of this. Meat cleavers are an obvious alternative.

For those wondering if we've gone bugfook, PC12020 bans the concealment of "readily available stabbing implements". It also bans clubs of just about any sort, so hammers as one example are out (open or concealed, at least for purposeful weapon carry).

Obviously, the cops aren't gonna LIKE seeing a hatchet carried on the street.

My first thought regarding "what would they do about it" is to declare the NON-cutting edge a "blunt instrument" and nail you that way.

Yes, we're deep into the independent nation-state of Moronica here. Welcome to the California penal codes, now go crazy.

Hey Jim,
Thanks for the reply, I dont know if you remember but we met at the last Cal Expo gun show at Joel Stienbergs table (Action Supply), I believe you bought a Wayne Goddard for a friend. It was nice talking with you.
P.S. I already have a Sifu

Single bladed tomahawks may also be "legal".

Speaking of blunt objects, are very long police flashlights banned within Kali borders? What cane configurations would be acceptable?

In California, "Batons" are illegal. Case law says there's fairly wide discretion available to the cops to decide what's being carried around as a weapons-grade bludgeon.

You can usually get away with canes. A really big (read: more than 4 D-Cells) metal cylindrical flashlight will probably get your screwed.
