Howdy to all! hey, I am brand spankin' new here! I came here seeking knowledge as I am getting into knives as a hobby. Anyhoo...that leads tot he following question:

In My State (South Carolina), it IS legal to have an auto-opening knife, but NOT legal for the average guy to carry (non-LEO types, i.e; me). But..if you have a Concealed Carry handgun permit, are you then allowed to carry said knife?

My thinking is this - SC Law says that an auto-opening knife is a deadly weapon, but so is a handgun. So if you are OK to carry the gun, why not a knife also?

Thanks for reading...am enjoying the site!

Who told you automatics are not legal for regular people? SC revised it's laws a few years ago: All knives are legal to carry now, not matter the size or type.

See http://www.scstatehouse.gov/code/t16c023.php

(C) The provisions of this section also do not apply to rifles, shotguns, dirks, slingshots, metal knuckles, knives, or razors unless they are used with the intent to commit a crime or in furtherance of a crime.
