found a custom spearpoint xm-24 on a forum
the thing is it's not even the price of a production xm-24...
it's in mint condition and the seller has 800 positive feedback but ...

Ask for good pictures. Insist on a money back guarantee. Or simply ignore it.

I personally would not buy high end knives on ebay or craigslist. if it is another knife forum, well, depends. I'd be really cautious. If something sounds too good to be true, it probably is.

I'm an investor. With a speculative stock, I only buy it if I can afford to lose the money. It is a risk. Rob's comment provides good info. It could be the deal of a lifetime. Do what you can to minimize risk. But only buy it if you can afford to lose the money if it turns out badly. That's my advice. Good luck.

My thought exactly! I pmed rob about it and he said it seems legit!

I believe I found the knife in question on the auction site. Note the price is still in bid mode and no mention of a reserve being met or a buy it now. So, really, there is no issue or even a good deal if the one I see is the one you are talking about.

The photos of the Custom Spearpoint 24 Flipper I'm talking about are of a real 24.

Seriously? You are referring to a knife on eBay (that isn't a forum, it is an auction site) that has over three days left and you are referencing the price as if it is the price it can be purchased? No way that price remains, I can assure you there are plenty of legitimate bidders that will ensure it goes much higher let alone the shill bidder that seller has lined up.

Do yourself a favor, type "tun-chun" into the BladeForums search box above.

I applaud your carefully word statement, N2N. "The photos.......are of a real 24."

Rich isn't picking on me, just quoted my text to make his points clear. This thread has no real value as the knife in question is on an auction site.

I think everyone is on the same page as far as being skeptical of a great deal on this auction site.

if it is from "tun-chun" don't even go near that with a stick. he's been banned from BF and still tries to make deals with members here(myself included as of a few weeks ago). He'll probably use a shill account to better his bidding, and he did a fellow member(mil) extremely wrong. Not worth it in my opinion.

It is not the photos or even the authenticity of the knife you should be questioning, do what I suggest above.

To be clear, my no "issues" words were about the question of authenticity asked by the OP...the photos I found are of a real XM.

As for the seller...you guys have covered that...everyone proceed with caution. Or do as I do...moving on.

Obviously I am not picking on you, I kept the salient points together immediately prior to my point where I am essentially "picking" on the OP (if you want to call it that).

Indeed, but as I believe I clearly pointed out, it isn't the pictures, or the auction description, or the site where it is listed that should be a concern, the concern should be directly related to the seller.

In general, proceed with caution, do a little research, I have led the OP to water, I can't make them or anyone else drink.

:)

Be aware that the seller "tun-shun" better known as liu-kang
He has been banned from Bladeforums and USN
If your a member here and many other places you know of his greed and no morals.
Definetly do your research on him, do not let his feedback fool you.

Cool, B.

Hope all reading this thread give some attention to the heads up here by RDA and roenman. Earlier I spoke only about the question asked by the OP. But being a caring group, some guys here took a moment to help educate others.

I am sure this is going to come as a considerable surprise, but the item has been ended early by the seller and in the process cancelled the bids of twelve prospective bidders.

Seems completely legit to me.
