Good evening,
I recently purchased a BK2 FDE from Amazon and a couple of things strike me as off. The listing had a couple thousand reviews - leading me to believe everything was on the up and up.

The big thing throwing me off is the coating. It’s smooth like Ka-bars as opposed to the rough coating. I understand older beckers had the smooth coating, but those also had the stamped logos. This has the laser etched logos. This logo also lacks the “USA”, which I understand they started doing recently, brining me back to why the smooth finish.

FDE, that's news to me. But, I am not the encyclopspedia of Becker knives. Pictures would help.

I believe they do have the smooth coating on them. Also, KA-BAR dropped the USA because they purchase their steel elsewhere now. IIRC, they get it from Germany.

a quick google shows 2 different vendors selling the BK2 with FDE Scales, so you're probably safe.

I can confirm that the USA engraving is dropped because of German steel. KaBar confirmed this on the forums a while back. Cant find the link ...

My BK9 recently purchased has the engraving without usa...

My coating is the diy version to get smooth though
