Legitimate Delica, or mod'd?

Was this a configuration the Delica was made in? Non-waved, combo-edge blade, with the bluish-gray scales of the waved Delica? I got this from another member here, and if I remember correctly, he said that this one was a 'sprint run'. The box indicates the scales were originally foliage green.

So, legitimate Spyderco model, or re-scaled?

Seems as though it has been rescaled.

^^^I just think its the picture, the waved delica did infact come with blueish grey scales.

Also, I am 99% sure this was no sprint.

The sprint blue delica looks like this

Looks like a black one to me

I know - no matter what I do, I can't seem to get the shade of color to come through in my pics. The scales are definitely from a waved model.

rycen: That shade of blue is pretty much what I thought I was getting. This whole situation is bad; the member I got this from has caused problems for several other members here too. (I'm going to ask for my waved Endura back.)

Thanks for your input, guys. It's much appreciated.

Chris:

If you were expecting to receive a Sprint run knife, i.e., a "collectable" or limited edition, and determine that this is not one, then I certainly see your gripe, and some relief may be in order.

But on the other hand, there is nothing per se bad about a Delica wearing different scales. In fact, I sorta dig such a thing because they are unique. In fact, they are considerably more unique than a Sprint run knife.

These, for example, are Delicas that you can't get from Spyderco:

Taking pictures outside near indirect sunlight can work miracles.

Update: my son, who just bridged to Boy Scouts last Wednesday, has decided he likes this Delica, so I may give it to him as his regular carry knife. On the condition, of course, that he gets his chip done, so he can actually carry it.

I've switched scales on my Enduras before, so the unique configuration might be nice to keep. As far as the pics, I usually do try to take pics outside, but our weather here got crazy over the last few days. We had a pretty big hail storm today.

So, I may keep this one, and maybe get Sal to autograph it for us one day at BLADE. I'll use it to start my son on his knife [Spyderco] collection. Maybe that way he'll keep his curious little paws out of my knife box. (Right.)
