Hi all,

I found a sweet (me thinks) older Legitimus Collins & Co. No. 823 (made in USA) Machete today at a "Garage Sale" in overall very good condition. The Machete's blade is sort of a "Bolo" style as opposed to the normal Machete blade shape. I forgot to measure the Blade lenght but, I'd say it's about an eighteen inch blade. The Machete came with an old (very old and in poor condition) Sheath (made of some type of cloth) which has a kind of Military look. The Machete's handles are (me thinks) some sort of Plastic but, I'm not sure of it's make up other than to say it's not wood. There are three rivets holding the Black/dark slabs onto the full tang of the Machete's handle. The base of the blade is marked : LEGITIMUS Collins & Co. No. 823 made in USA. There is also some kind of funky Logo of an Arm and hand. Might anyone own and/or know anything about the No. 823 Machete ? Thanks for any help.

Regards,
HARDBALL

I have a Collins machete that I bought here in Mexico. I have had mine for almost 18 years now. Mine also has black plastic scales but attached with only two rivets or pins. The old heads around here tell me that it is one of the best. In fact I have been offered serious cash for it. I can't remember what I originally paid for it. It is some good steel, although I have no idea what its composition is. There are no model numbers marked only the stamp of the crown, arm and hammer.

Hi Jake,

Sounds like you have a nice Collins. I tried doing a Google search of No. 823 with no luck. Oh well, somebody will know something about this Machete.
