My understanding is that the overall length of the item for sale is in the description, is that correct? How does one calculate the lenght of the blade?

Yep the length is given in overall length. Yangdu does this because by the very nature of the khuks being handmade the blade length can fluctuate a bit.

Generally speaking, an Ang Khola and blades of that ilk are going to have 4-5" of handle and the rest blade. WWII's usually have even more grip than that.

Honestly, it varies enough that if you have a specific handle/blade ration that you are wanting, you might just email Yangdu and see what she has:)

Seems a general rule of thumb (palm?) is that kukris from 15-18" OAL tend to have 4-4.5" of handle. Kukris from 18-22" are closer to 5-5.5", and above that, you're talking big enough for two hands.

Most of my khukuris are in the 20" OAL category and I know that gives me about 14" - 14.5" of blade.

One thing I've noticed with the khukuris that have an angled, rather than curved spine, is that the distance from the bolster to the shoulder is usually identical to the distance from the bolster to the pommel. Probably for balance.

This rule did not work for my kukris at least (unless you put a +- 1.5" margin of error). I am not sure there is a golden ratio given the versatility in models and kamis.
