Length question in Conn.

Just kind of dappling into knives and my first post here. I decided to buy a few better quality knives knowing they would last longer. I ended up getting a Ranger and also an Amazon from MLL in Portugal for an every day carry knife. Even having fun with a wicked edge sharpener. Much to my horror, I am now finding the Amazon I want to carry is too long. My question would be, can I wrap Electrical tape around the back part of the blade edge thereby reducing the length of the edge? Would this allow the knife to be legal?

No that will not work. You would have to grind the edge flat until the total sharpened area is less than 4 inches.

The law states it is illegal to carry on your person: "any knife the edged portion of the blade of which is four inches or more in length" (Source: http://www.cga.ct.gov/current/pub/chap_943.htm#sec_53-206)

Black tape didn't work anyways because after a few wraps the blade started cutting right through.
