Soooooo here is my first...shall we say basic and perhaps dumb question. Say that I am looking at the Ganga Ram Special - 22 inch, for example. Is 22in the blade length or the blade and handle. Is it measured along the spine? How long is the handle on average, no one stlye in paticular but in general? I tried the search but putting "length" in gets you more or less all the past threads. Thanks for any respones.

Feth,

Have you gone to one of Uncle Bill's posts and clicked on the links to the FAQ page and other HI website stuff? That will give you all the info on how to measure these toys. And yes the length would be the length of the blade Plus the handle. All the handles are different. It really depends on who makes them, but that needs more comment from a more experienced toy lover:D

I did go a while ago and I did read most of it. I say most because I do not remember that at all.:) I will go back and reread it again. Thanks and sorry.

Khukuri Faq's, Then down to constructiona and maintenance. I think you'll find what you need.:)

21.5 inches from buttcap to blade tip. The handle on mine is about 6.5 inches from buttcap to front of hibaki bolster. It doesn't feel big though. It's great because you can get several different grips on it.

Anyway, click on the khuk link in my sig. line below and look at the comparative drawings.

Enjoy!

And Welcome!

We didn't tell you, Pen is our giant blacksmith, he wrestles moose for handles and uses some special powers to sharpen knives so that when they see paper the molecular structure of the paper disjoints and it falls apart. Probably why he doesn't think his Ganaga is very big !!
