Hey guys,
just wondering what you fellow law enforcement officers carry on duty and why? also do you carry it on and off duty? or do you have an on duty edc and an off duty edc ? I personally have an off duty ( spyderco delica 4 orange) and on duty ( benchmade mini barrage). just wondering how some others do it and what they carry.

pics are always fun!

I'm a knife nut, but I haven't carried one on duty in a while. The only reason I can give is that I have SO MUCH in my pockets and SO much on my belt anyway. I DO HAVE a warbag in the car with A Kobun Tanto, SAK, Victorinox Multitool, Gerber Shears, Gerber Pruning Shears, and other tools.

Been carrying a Crawford Kasper Neck Knife in a kydex sheath OFF DUTY...

Wow man that's a lot of stuff in your bag! Lol that's why I carry the mini barrage to save space in the pockets

I carry a Hogue in my left pant pocket, a Syderco Mariner in my right pant pocket and either a XM-18 or a ZT 350 in between the buttons on my shirt. That one is mainly used for cutting citations off the printer in the car :). The Mariner is serrated and used for air-bags and seatbelts.

Carried a Benchmade AFCK clipped in the shock plate pocket of my vest in uniform and in my back pocket in plainclothes and off duty. Since retirement I carry a Case Stockman.

I'm no LEO but I work with plenty of 'em and most seem to prefer multi-tools or cheap S&W one-handers. One fella is a bit of a knife-nut and I introduced him to the Ontario RAT-1 PS and he really digs it. Tough enough to rely on but cheap enough to replace. He carries it clipped to his vest alongside an all black Kershaw Leek. He says he carries either off-duty. I gave another patroller a Byrd Cara Cara 2 in FRN to replace his broken S&W whatever-it-was. He calls the Cara Cara... "Option 4" and carries it clipped to his strong side cargo pant pocket. No idea if he carries it off-duty though.

Hi David. I'm also located in Western N.C. down in the southern part in Rutherford County. Where you be from?

I am also a knife nut. I primarily carry an Ontario Rat 1 for everyday duty use as my utility and last resort blade. It is reliable, easy to sharpen and replaceable if I loose it.

If I am going tactical I often will add the kabar TDI on my off side.

Off duty, it depends on what I am wearing. The Rat 1 often goes with me but I sometimes prefer the light weight of a spyderco delica/endura or a kershaw.

Carried a Spyderco Embassy for a long time. Great knife!! Now a Grayman Dua! Tough as nails folder!! Highly recommend!

ZT0350 for now. Also a kershaw chive in the other pocket.

I really like the 0350 but it's kinda big. It'll stay till I find something I like better.

Bk10 in the pass seat bag. Just in case I need something to do some damage.

Right now i am carrying the Pohl Force Bravo One.

Its one ugly knife, and i only bought it because i got a good deal on it, but i have rarely been this positively surprised by a knife before.

The marketing blurb said designed for LEOs, blah, blah, but upon handling it, i realised that i lot of thought had gone into the design of this knife. I recommend it.

Ive also carried the Benchmade Triage. Its a good knife too, but i hate the low-carry foldover clip. Implementing the rescue hook and glass breaker into a knife is ingenious though

I had to YouTube the Ontario rat 1. I've browsed over that knife many times on different sites. I'll be buying one now. Thanks guys. This is part of what bladeforums is here for.

Peace

I have been known to carry a Benchmade 9050 auto but lately have been carrying a Cold Steel American Lawman. I like that it can be set up as a true "lefty" for left front pocket carry because that is where I carry my "on-duty" knife.

I'm no cop, but I understand that a beater knife, and a self-defense would be very suitable.

On your person
Beater- Spyderco Endura 4 plain edge, half serrated, or fully serrated its your preference.
Defense- Spyderco Military, Benchmade Barrage (580-581) or Benchmade 741 Onslaught

Only listed knives from personal experience.

The Spyderco Military is my all time favorite defense knife at the moment and has been for a year or so. Its back up to my Gen4 Glock 19
