For all you forumites who earn a living as a LEO, what blade do you carry while on duty? Do you have a differnt blade you carry while off duty?

....my small regular Stars and Stripes Sebenza and my trusty Victorinox SwissChamp! Generally these are joined by several others, depending.........

MT Socom Elite is a superb duty knife. Anything you like is great for off duty

Spyderco Military. I've got both spyderedge and plainedge, and feel like the serrated is better for on duty carry.

However, as I really prefer the PE, I'm usually carrying that one, both on and off duty.

I've posted about this before, the odd dilemma in my head that I should carry the serrated so that I'm guaranteed a cut, almost no matter what, but that I carry the PE anyway just because I like it better. (I can hear the "Carry both." crowd already! :D

Oh well, guess one has to think about something. ;)

In 24 years of duty I have carried so many different knives I can't remember them all. Most were folders carried in my right hand pocket for general cutting tasks.

When Sypderco started showing up, I got a Delica SE and carried that for quite a while. As weapon retention began to be a popular topic at training I began thinking about an off side carry blade to assist in case of a weapon grab attempt. I carried a Benchmade Tanto folding auto for a while, a Gerber AF for a bit and then a CRKT M-16. I tried to find any knife for the off side that I thought I could get into action while in a struggle with little effort. For the last several years I also carried a Microtech Mini-Socom in my left shirt pocket. With the flap buttoned down the clip looked like an ink pen. I usually carried something smaller like a Victorinox soldier in my right hand pocket to use as a general cutting blade and the screwdriver blades.

Off duty, I usually carried some of the duty carry knives in different combinations.

Now that I am no longer a LEO, my general daily carry is a Spyderco KIWI. Desk job and sheeple to consider.

On duty, I carry a Leatherman Wave and a Greco folder attached on my duty belt. Occasionally, I will carry my Strider SNG. A Greco knife is virtually indestructiable, and if you should happen to loose it while in a foot pursuit, you are only out $130.00 (VS the $400 for the SNG). The Leatherman is used more than any other tool on my belt.

Off duty my new favorite is my Peter Atwood Model 1.

Personally? A MOD CQD-1 and a Leatherman Clip-It.

Most popular with coworkers: S&W SWAT folders...and Spyderco Enduras/Delicas, and a few Benchmades.

Don't know any Officers I work with who use a Microtech, Emerson, Strider...

On duty, I normally carry my Microtech UMS, but now that it is off at the microtech factory, I have been carrying my MOD Trident. Around my neck is a S&W neck badge knife, (looks just like the emerson lagriffe).

Off duty,

An Al Mar SERE Operator on my side, the MOD Trident in pocket, or SOG X-Ray Vision, and the S&W HRT badge knife around neck.

On duty:

Benchmade Griptillian
Victorinox Swisstool
Emerson La Griffe (will probably be changed to a Camillus BK11 neck knife when they are available)
Becker Tactool and Combat Bowie in car

I do carry different, more expensive, stuff while I'm off. The knives I carry at work are solid, dependable knives that are easily replaced. I just can't bring myself to carry a $200+ knife at work. I've seen too many officers lose them.

Of course, by other officers standards I carry expensive stuff. Most officers I work with carry Smith and Wesson SWAT knives, or SPyderco knockoffs. :o

A Victorinox Swisschamp and a Gerber 600 multitool. Usually also a folder, typically a "street-legal" Spyderco Pride.

Sometimes - when I'm feeling daring and want to ignore our sensible and moderate knife laws :barf: - I carry a Sebenza, BM 710 HSSR or Camillus Talonite EDC in a horizontal belt sheath.

I tend to carry moderate priced folders while on the job, since they get beat up and/or lost. I kind of have a rotation of work knives that I carry. Yesterday was a CS large Clip Point PE Voyager, a small SOG Auto Clip PE and a BM Rescue Hook.

I recently damaged my Spyderco Wayne Goddard LW in CE (off for repair). Also in the mix are some Spyderco Endura's, A Camillus CUDA Quick Action, Kershaw Avalanche, Kershaw Blackout, SOG Pentagon, CRKT M1, CRKT M16...and several others. I tend to favor 3.5" (or so) folders. Where I work, Spyderco, Benchmade and Kershaw are among the most common.

On duty, Gerber multi plier on the duty belt. Emerson Commander in right front pants pocket. I am left handed so I keep it on the right as a quick draw backup knife (gotta love the wave opening)

Off duty, Al Mar SERE 2000, or a recently purchased Strider AR.

It changes from time to time, but currently...

On: Benchmade 805 TSEK AXIS strong side, Emerson La Griffe on the other side.

Off: Either a Spyderco Viele or G-10 Police, depending on the mode of dress ;)

On duty: Benchmade 940. Off duty: usually the same knife, but on occasion, a Spyderco Delica. Eyeballing the new Spyderco Salt model.........................SK
