Leprechaun Coating Differences

Just picked up a Leprechaun Game Warden and I will admit, I was a little surprised when it arrived yesterday. The coating color/texture was different than I expected. It is slightly lighter in color, thinner, and rougher than any other of the dark green coated knives that I have (the texture reminds me of the desert sand coating on the SR Desert Jack). I'd say it is more of a Dark OD green versus the darker Jungle Green that I'm used to on of all my other Busse (and 'kin) knives.

I got some much better photos today in the natural light, and they show the color and texture differences pretty well.
















Anyway, just curious if anyone else had noticed this? I don’t recall ever reading about this, and the only thing I really turned up in a search was this post from LVC talking about the different coatings (Why isn’t that thread stickied??? It really should be!!!), so I just thought I would put this out there for future reference.

While these coatings are different, it’s not a bad thing. I think I personally learn toward the newer, smoother, thicker, and darker Jungle Green, but it’s just a personal preference.

I was also impressed just how clean and clear the logo was on this particular GW. Definitely the sharpest example I've ever seen on any Busse knife. Maybe due to the thinner coating?

I found this old...really old pic sales thread pic of mine that had the two variations next to each other of the green used on the GW runs...or these two runs, anyway. There was a Jungle green, then OD green, then a slightly different shade again referred to as Jungle green, IIRC.

A is Jungle green, B & C are OD green

So it sounds like the Green Linen GW's were all the OD color, and none were the darker Jungle Green?

That I would not know. Wouldn't be the first time Busse changed something mid-run though....
