Lerky Here

I can't believe it's taken me so long to trip across this forum. I've had steel on the brain for 20 years and have always harbored the notion that I'm a knife maker trapped in a working stiff's life. Anyway, this forum has motivated me to clean the garage, dig up my old files, and steal sandpaper from my wife.

Thanks for the inspiration, I'll be the one in the background taken notes.

PartTime,
Glad to have you aboard.

Be Careful! Once you start down that road, you may never return. The road is long and there is treachery around every turn. Fear not though, it can and will be a worthwhile trip.

Keep taking notes and learn as much as you can. You may find out that knifemaking can be the best disease you could catch.

Outstanding!!!!!!!!!!! Another knifenut!

Parttime,
You are really going to like it here. I found this forum. Next thing I know, I've got two " how to make knives " books in the mail. Ask all the questions that you can think of. Every time I ask a question the other forum members always help me out and they usually give me a whole bunch of information that I didnt even know that I needed. Think of this place as your home away from home.

QUICK, build a forge; wood, mud, whatever; just get started! You have a lot of catching up to do.

You will have more fun than you can imagine. Don't let all the info about imported exotic ju ju wood, and Krytonite stainless deter you from your destiny. You can spend a life time perfecting your skills using Leaf spring and old pallet oak. Welcome!

Yea, an outlet and vehicle to encourage my obsession, just a little scary. But I’m up for it.

Knifenuts, they checkin but they don't checkout.Friends do you draw knives while in meetings, do you stop to pick up a scrap of wood because it might be handle material, do you hang around fleamarkets, junkyards, and surplus centers? Yes my friend I are one too?
