Hello Members:
Just would like some input on the VECP. How do you like it in comparison with the CR Large Sebenza? Thanks

Hello!

The VECP is a favorite of mine, and has become one of my "go to" working blades. I also have a sebenza, and that too has also filled the role of a working knife as well. Both are great knives and will bring you much joy!

I find the VECP to be a little more beefy than the large sebenza with more belly to the blade. Both are incredibly smooth to deploy, but would give the edge to my VECP. I don't think there is a better choice, I like that the sebenza is more obtainable making pricing more consistent, whereas the VECP is really only available in secondary markets at prices that are $100 to $150 dollars more than a regular large sebenza.

Here's a great vid comparison of the Sebbie an Umnuum and the VECP v2. It's about 18 min long but very informative.
I love my VECP v2 and my Sebbie, I'm thinking i like the feel of the VECP a little better on some days. I can't say at all that one is better than the other...just can't. They are both silky smooth and the fit and finish is what you'd come to expect from either maker (top notch all the way).
Neither are getting any (real) hard use from me. I have yet to sharpen either of these bad boys but they do get a good drag across the strop every now and then. The VECP is maybe a tad thicker and the jimping is more aggressive. The VECP is a tad bit shorter (bladewise) and while at first i didn't like the VECP's pocket clip, i've grown to like how securely it holds the knife in my pocket without shredding my jeans every time i deploy it. I also really like the beveled edges on the VECP as well, makes for a very comfortable feel in the hand. All in all, both are great knives

Hey guys!
Thanks very much for the two detailed and informative responses. Appreciate it !!!!

I LOVE my VECP even more than my Sebbies although I don't consider it an EDC knife. It's too big and beefy. I can EDC a large Sebenza but prefer the small seb or my Les voorhies model 10. But for hiking and camping the VECP is my go to knife. It's an all purpose work horse. And it gets very sharp. Here's a pic just after sharpening on my wicked edge to 44* inclusive.

You cannot go wrong with any Chris Reeve product! I love all my CR knives! They are masterpieces! I agree the VECPs have a beefier feel yet are just as smooth. I think they re hard to compare. Both just awesome knives! My brother actually turned me on to Les George and since hes over seas I was on a mission to hunt a VECP down for him. So I did, and fell in love with them! I now have a small collection of them. My brother may have to fight me for his! Just recently added what im gonna call the EAGLE by Les George! :D

Damn Striderco, very nice collection, love the flamed clip, where can you buy it (clip)? Thanks

Striderco, would you recommend the Eagle over the VECP?

I have NOT owned either one, but IIRC, the Eagle is much lighter, at maybe 4.6 or 4.7 ounces, but still same blade-steel. I've been trying to find a VECP...without success.
I do worry about Maprik's post, that the VECP may be too big and beefy for casual EDC. I normally carry a large Seb or Zaan; got rid of 3.5" spanto XM-18 as too heavy for me.
