Hey guys, I'm thinking about buying my first Les George knife, and I can't decide if I want the VECP 1 or 2, or the Talos. If you have any experience with any of these, I would love to hear your thoughts and opinions.
Thanks
Andy

Hey,

Had both. Both are very solid folders. They are labelled midtechs, so they are part serial production, part handwork by the maker. I am not sure how much of each there is in the VECP or the Talos. Personally, I found that VECP 2.0 was less suited for my hand, I had a harder time opening it than my Talos. The latter just blended in my hand perfectly (then again, I haven't heard anyone else having the same problem with the VECP, so maybe it's just my hands). The VECP 2.0 is more aggressive-looking, and with an overall more streamlined profile. The aggressiveness does not translate to hotspots on the handle - I found none. Then again, I found the Talos to be even more ergonomic. The VECP 2.0 is also the slightly smaller one of the two (3.4in vs. 3.875in).

Both came with very smooth operation, good (and same) blade steel, and very solid fit and finish. I would pick the VECP for the looks and Talos for the ergonomics.

Hard to go wrong with either, I've had both, still have the VECP 2.0. For me the Talos was way too slippery in the hand, and the VCEP provided better grip (at least for mine the VECP handles had a slightly rougher texture and the deeper index finger cutout). I would agree the Talos "melts" into the hand better, but there was just zero grip with wet/sweaty hands. I liked that the Talos had a bit less belly to the blade compared to the VECP and the Talos is a lot of blade for the handle size. Jimping is useless on either of them. Build quality/fit/finish etc. was outstanding on both. I considered doing a coarse sandblast to the Talos handles for grip, but decided I'd just let it go. I may try a frag pattern Talos but aesthetically I really dislike that the first inch of the handle is left plain.

I have both but prefer the choir and grip of the VECP 2.0. The VECP also carries much narrower in the pocket. I got them both about the same time and the Talos has been setting in my safe while the VECP gets carried almost every day. There is a new VECP 3.0 that should be released very soon. You can sign up on the Les George knives site and he will be announcing when they become available.

Les is currently working on a another batch of VECP's as we speak, type.
