What do you guys think? I'm kinda interested, I may be a rookie but I've heard great things about Camillus and it would suit my needs as an outdoors knife. But what I REALLY am itching to know is if it's better than the Mykel Hawke and Bear Grylls series

I know the camera sure does take a long pause on his hip when he goes for his new knife! LOL! I held one- they seem decent for the money. A lot like the Mora-but with a fancy sheath.

The LS Machete, at least, is a beast! Thick, unique shape, and chops like heck. I did do a little touch up sharpening first, but par for the course if you want a really sharp machete. No knowledge of th others. Same opinion of the BG Machete.

As a rule of thumb, when I see "Steel: 440 Stainless" without specifying what type of 440, I take it as a clue to stay away because they're marketing them towards people who don't know anything about the product, and that's not usually a good sign.

Camillus was great. Are they great anymore? Who knows...Camillus doesn't even appear to be a "they" anymore. It may be just a name that somebody owns. To me, Camillus is in the "questionable" category for now. I'd love to see them become a great American knife maker again.

Which of the tv survival guru endorsed knives is "best"? Pick the guy you like the most and buy his.

I have both the Bear Grylls and Les Stroud knife, In my opinion they are both alright. i wouldn't trust either of them with my life tho, they are kinda overpriced for the quality. but thats just my opinion, take is as you may. However for less the money you can get a Mora and have a way better knife.

All I've had a chance to mess with is the Desert folder, and wasn't overly impressed. Some cosmetic flaws that I can ignore on a $24.00 knife, but the firesteel notch on the back of the blade was a total failure on mine. :(

Upon opening the clam shell the FIXED BLADE KNIFE I bought from them FELL APART when I called them they sent a replacement when I opened that one it rattled like it wanted to fall apart needless to say I have no interest whatsoever of ever buying another knife made by the current Camillus.
