I'm having a hell of a time finding it on google.

Did you type it correctly? Do you have a link?

Les uses his knowledge and determination to survive. Any knife he uses is just a tool.

And part of that knowledge is knowing the best knives to use as survival tools. Hence any knife he uses must be a good knife for survival and one that should be taken notice of.

Ever seen him abuse a knife in one of his programs or in any of his writings or teachings? He would make the best of it if all he had was a sharpened tin can lid. Les' philosophy is to have the correct mindset & knowledge to win -this is part of one's spirit, not buy a bunch of crap that is shoved into your face on the TV.

Go on chasing products  , I prefer to learn techniques and develop my skills.

That does not follow. Neither from logic nor from past shows.

I've seen him use multitools, Buck 110, Gerber Gator. In short, a wide variety of blades and types. Based on the knives he has chosen I'd say his point was that it doesn't take a special knife to survive.

Add:
My favorite is the Winchester 1339 he used in the Arctic episode ; ) Great knife for use in the Arctic wilderness. . .
A good example : a $15 knife with "surgical stainless steel" blade. Sure going to take notice of that.

He often uses a Buck 119. I certainly wouldn't be afraid to go out with a Mora.

I think he uses whatever maybe sent to him with a check to give it a little air time, but I'm wrong a lot.

I'll never forget that Winchester knife, I had to pause the dvr to make sure I saw it right.

I I have seen him use just about everything imaginable in the way of cutting tools. He often limited himself to whatever he thought someone would likely have on them in a survival situation. His focus every time was on skills not gadgets which is appreciated compared to most of the shows of similar genre.

With proper skills an individual can get by with a small flint blade knife. And many folks have made it in the wilderness with the equivalent of an Old Hickory butcher knife as their main knife. Many buckskinners of yore carried nothing more than a roachbelly kitchen knife.

The skills are what is most important.
