I'm afraid i'm a nobody in the custom knifemaker world, but i've noticed on this forum and at the Badger knife show that my name has been confused with another Voorhies whose knive are more well known than mine, so if anyone cares here is some info:

Les Voorhies - Faribault, MN (me)

Steve Voorhies - MO. (I think)

Les Voorhies - makes mostly very small folders, neck knives and some hunting knives all on the smaller side.

Steve Voorhies - makes (what i've seen) very nice sub hilt fighters (med. - large)

I'm not sue if Steve Voorhees is the same as Steve Van Voorhees but I found both in my web search, only the Steve Van Voorhees hit had any connection to knives, the other was a pretty much blank home page.

almost all Les Voorhies knives are marked with "L.Voorhies"

Welcome, Les. Good to see you here!

Folks, Les makes some pretty nice knives. And, the prices aren't bad either. :)

See you in Janesville, Les. Unless you feel like setting up in St. Louis in January. ??

I tried to do the St. Louis show once but the tables were sold out and i never heard from the organizer again, but I will be looking at doing more shows in 2004, i might not have a job by the end of '04' and i will be making knives and doing some light manufacturing full time.

Hey Les, After looking at your knives, I think I talked to you at a show up north somewhere, Wisconson? Anyway, nice work :)

Hi Les,

good to see you on the forums! Don't worry, all the Wisconsinites know who you are!

Les made my first custom knife--a little neck knife, upswept blade, very clean grinds and wicked sharp. Some of my subsequent custom purchases have been sold, but I've still got this one.

It was all downhill from there!

:D

Summerland it was a hit on one of your post that brought me to this site and caused me to start this thread :) I was checking to see if my site would show up in a search (it didnt) and i happened across several post you made here, i noticed that some people who replied to your post were talking about large knive or sub-hilt knives and i knew they really meant Steve Voorhees. I've had a few people come up to me at Janesville and say 'Oh i saw one of your fighters in The Cutting Edge' and since i've only made maybe 2 or 3 fighters in 7 years of knivemaking i'm pretty sure they have confused me with Steve, its kinda funny, at least i'm being mixed up with someone who makes nice knives:D

Les, I tried to email you, but the message got kicked back. Your email might be hosed.

The St. Louis knife show is no longer put on by the same guy from several years ago. 2 years ago, he decided to no longer do the shows, so our knife club took it on. Last year was our first in a new, bigger and better location. Better everything, location, lights, you name it. This year's show will be at the Carpenter's Union Hall on S. Hampton(same exit as the zoo, only the other direction). Tables are still available, as far as I know, and table rental is inexpensive. Dates are 24-25 January 04.

ceya one, you live in one of my favorite places to visit, i have climbed J-tree a couple time and i cant wait to get back :D :D

Danbo, thanks for he info, i tested my e-mail thru the link on this site and it worked fine, i have also received e-mails from other, maybe it was just a termerary hickup. I like to know the same things Patrick ask about, i would have to work my but off to get ready and 1st time shows dont usually show great results but i'm very interested.

Thanks
