Does anyone have one of Les's folders? I see them on Ebay and various websites. His small folders are selling right around $150. They look to me very much like Pardue designs.

What are the quality of these pieces - great deal or not?
Also, was he trained by Mel, or just influenced by him. Any opinions/knowledge much appreciated.

I've seen his work at a few shows, and I don't think you could go wrong with the prices he is charging. Nice knives.

I own one of his linerlocks and it is a beautiful little piece, you can't go wrong for the price. As nice of craftmanship as the $300 and $400 folders.

Hmm, I did'nt notice this thread, I guess i spend too much time in shop talk. Architect, about the Mel Pardue conection, I was not trained by Mel (that would have been cool) and I havent even met him, a knife dealer gave me a Benchmade Mel Pardue model and ask me to make some like it, I changed a few minor things to fit with the way I make knives and I discovered it was a very versitile style, bolsters could be added, it could be done in damascus and MOP, anodizing the liners or whatever, the knife was so easy to make that I was able to keep the price pretty low. Mostly I do not copy other knives, I have been influenced by other knives but I try to let my imagination do at least some of the work, in this case, except for the fact that I didnt trace out the parts and duplicate them, its pretty much a copy of the Mel Pardue knife you are thinking of.

I hope to have photos in the next month or two of some of my other knives, I'm tring to learn how to take good pictures of knives but I don't have a lot of free time, my web site is www.lesvoorhiesknives.com but going along with the "not enough free time" theme, its not finished. I've got two new models in the works and at the shows I always have some one-of-a-knids, my next show is the Edgerton knife show in WI. I should be well stocked.

:o Sorry for the shamless self promotion :o
