Hi folks.
I not to long ago sold my zt0920, which i thought was a wonderfull blade. I really really loved it in every way.

I sold it however because im not good at sharppening a recurve. I wish now I would of learned to sharpen recurve vs selling it. Anyway I digress.

I know it was a zt but it really got me wanting a Les George. I love the models on monkey edge.

Is the action on these models like the 0920.? That knife just fell shut and fired like a rocket.

Im a big hinderer fan and I like crk to a point. Im also a huge olamic fan. I call out those three because thats all i own that would be comparable.

I wont have a chance to hold one before purchacing. So people that like or dis like them please let me know and why you like or dis like.

Im close to pulling the trigger on one but wanted you guys to chime in.

I have a VECP and it's fantastic. No frills, simple, yet precise construction. Super solid, but fairly slim. Not a bearing flipper so hard to really compare action to a 0920 but it's incredibly fluid and smooth. Ive actually got mine set a hair tight as it bit me twice falling under it's own weight during disengagement. Definitely one of my all time favorites! Highly recommended. I hear great things about the Talos too, but have not owned or handled one. If it's held to the same standards as the VECP, I'm sure it's amazing as well.

You can't beat them. They are some of the best knives I have ever owned.

+1

I've owned both his VECP v.3 and the Talos (morph) models. Both were fantastic knives, with near flawless F&F, for my EDC carry purposes. I wouldn't hesitate to own one again. I only moved them on to chase other purchases. Both locked up early and like a vault. Both had incredibly smooth action on PB washers. Awesome mid techs, IMO. I've owned CRK, Hinderer, Curtiss, Olamic, Ferrum Forge, and many other mid techs in the past. I did prefer the VECP over the Talos, though, simply because it carried slimmer in my pocket.

Take the plunge on one of his mid tech models. You won't be disappointed :)

Man,I have been drooling over a Talos with the monkey edge frag pattern for awhile, just always seems to be a Hinderer that pops up before I can hit that add to cart button.

This is what keeps happening to me i really want one with the frag pattern.

How do you feel about the tanto version? The frag pattern VECP V3 tanto is a current release, and ME has them in stock. I think it's been a little while since they did their run of MEFP drop point VECPs.

One thing I like about the MEFP tanto is that Les' logo is on the blade, not the handle; on the MEFP drop point, it's on the handle.

I love my VECP v1. It's a stout, simple, all business, perfectly build folder. I'm attracted by minimalist designs and it's like a knife made in Heaven to my eyes. One of my keepers for sure.

I just got a Talos and the ergonomics of this thing are phenomenal. I really really like it; it exceeded my expectations.

Stick with the ZT designs by Les George if you prefer flippers.

I prefer manual knives. Or flippers that also open manually with thumb studs or hole openers.

I own three VECPs -- a V1.5, V2 and V3. I much prefer them to equivalent sized ZTs.

Same with the Les George ESV (Extra Small VECP.) It is equivalent in size to the Les George designed ZT 0900. I thought I would love the 0900. And I might have, but like many ZTs of that vintage, it just flips harder than I like. It may be perfect for you.

Les George's own mid-tech models are $400 and up. They are wonderful pieces. Highly recommended, with smooth tolerances. Les also is a good guy who takes care of his customers.

But Les' ZT models simply cannot be beat for the price. And several are on sale right now as closeouts. Now is the time to snap them up at bargain prices.
