well some one had relived us of some of our ho ho
and most of my knife money 'stash' ..
i got home a day ago and today i went to were i keep my spare - i mean my "emgerancy" cash to do some unrecoreed santa helping and low and behold ...
it is gone...
no one has seen it ..
no one has been in the house while i was gone..
there is NO break in damage...
apx 30$ in coin is still with in 8 inches of were over 500$ of folding money is missing from..
[[it was for some undocutmented spending on her and some on me and the rest post falls spending cash]]
and the wife did not even know i had this much un-tell i had to tell her it was gone.. and she said she would have put it in the bank and pretended to not know it was there rather then leave it here even tho hidden...

BTW: all funding for Habbie is safe in the bank!!!

this was thought to be safe and was not missed tell i needed some today...
it is jest why would a thief take green cash and leave rolls of coin next to it alone?..
and some expensive fancy eye catching knives were right there also and not touched?..

it jest dont make sence...
i will recover .. some plains now have to be cancled ...
on fixed income replacement money dont come easy...

i jest wanted to share with you guy's to be carefull in this hollday season even at home!!!..
some one may be willing or will want to make your life a mess to make theirs better for a moment...
oh well rant off...

Wow, that's really a bummer.:( About 6 months ago, one of my so called friends broke into my house while no one was home with a known 34 year old pedophile whom I'd had problems with in the past, due to him trying to get into my girlfriend's pants. They stole about 6 knives from me, 15 dollars from my mother, and to add insult to injury, changed my desktop picture to something obscene. (That's how I found out who it was; only that friend and me had my password.) I know its a small loss compared to what you lost, but it still ticks me off to the max to know that someone you trusted betrayed you like that. I hope it ends well for you and you get your money back. Last I heard, the guy who stole my knives was selling them to people for cigarrete money...

Bummer Dave,,,, I did that once, it took a while but I finally remembered where I moved the stash to...

But, sounds like thats not the problem you have......

Hope you figure it out...

Sorry to hear that Dave. Unless you stashed it somewhere, and forgot about it -- it's probably someone you know...

If any fellow Buckrooes are travaling and thers no hotel safe, the most secure spot in a motel room is BEHIND a outlet plate or switch plate, few theives have a screwdriver.Best is one behind a bed/dresser, Its a small place but a good one!A bigger spot is behind a light fixture.....

Man i am sorry to hear that,I have been there myself after having my knives stolen out of my house and not recovered, some were priceless stag/damascus combos, some were gifts from friends who have since passed on,it is a real shame ,not even insurance money can come close to replacing what i lost had no way to be replaced.I am trying but its not happening very fast!Good luck hope they catch the bums.

... Not a good thing to have happen at any time let alone around the Holidays like this. If you didn't stash it while "nursing" one o' those jars think if you've had any "visitors" in the recent past. They could have been doing more than just visiting. Hopefully you'll find it layin' around somewhere where you'll least expect it to be...:(...

man i wish i had been driunking from a jar.. that would explaine the nite mare now..
had i gave thoes odds as low as 6 to 1 that i missplaced it i would not have posted..
there are a few other things not said that gave me the higher odds..
i have tried to recall if i did move it and i don't think so tho i wish i had ...
i am a creature of habit and around the house mostly predictable...
and i do misplace things from time to time.. and have a surch drill i do...
keys will be in one of two rooms or in pants or jacket type of thing..
it was not really hidden, jest stored out of sight of casual walk in's.

i have looked and looked and wife has looked also...
she found some things i forgot were there that
she thought i had got rid of ...
now the wife thinks i hide 'things' from her ... and that IS bad...

the "folder thing" i keep the money in was still there were i expected..
i picked it up, put some in it and turned took 3 steps to the door..
it hit me ~ there was nothing in it when i added the new money...
i would not have jest taken money and left the folder thing ...
i have keep some amount of emergency cash in it for a long time now ...
13 to 3 i would have moved it also as i have once in past...
i had moved the folder thing from dresser drawer to a drawer
in a chest i refinished and put in use on top of dresser...
i truly hope i have missed placed it my self ... which worries me...
the alternative is i have miss-placed trust... which gives me fear...

Dave, sorry about that loss, just bad luck I guess. I hate to broach the topic, but if there wasn't forced entry into your home....I'm thinking friends or family:(:thumbdn:

it was not hidden it was in the slot next to were i put my car keys and wallet most the time! and of habbit i had put my wallet there the nite before even! so

if i did not misplace it and
no forced entry then i have
miss-placed trust which is
a worse thing...
which is why i am posting
hopeing some else will be more carefull..
some times it is a rough world..
situational awareness ...
i was right hot at first..
got off and fussed and fumed,
then got church quite and thought full and
can live with it now.. :o
when things are ok with wife again it will be past history..
i share not for sympathy but so others will learn..;)

Sorry to hear of your loss Dave. Hopefully the cash will turn up or the thief will get some holiday cheer and return it.

As the great book states, the LOVE of money (not the money itself) is the root of all evil!! This is a tough one; thinking of you, Decaff!!

i got a few emails and thanks to thoes that did send..
with the questions i got i want to clear it a tad better..

this cash was not house budget money !
this was were i sold some knives to bucksway - my brother- and another friend!!!
so it is no damage - none - to my home finances !
if i had not sold them to him and another friend i would still have them!!!
so basicly i look at it as they stole some knives...
the only loss is were i bought a few knives and plained on paying back the credit card with this cash to keep the misss happy and now i cant...
and i feel it was realy opertuntity and percived need on some ones part..
were it was missing from is like the spot i put my keys in ...
a jest out of sight spot .. and not a hidding place...
i am not suffering any financhual hard ship from this!!!
only emotional distress that some one did this..
like the time my wallet was stolen ...
i had only 2 $ in it .. it was jest the insult not the injury that was a bother...
same here ...
while i leave open that i may have missplaced it ... i dont think i did..
i guess one thing i was trying to convay is that the wife did not know i had this much cash and felt like i was hideing it.. it is not a good thing later..
so i wrote of it and did not mention the insult part that much ..
i know many guys are like me and have some privet reservers..
had i realy hidden the reserve i wild still have it most likely..
so some one took advantage of an easy mark and
now i pay some emotional price for other reasons...
so i guess i was saying it is not jest the money ..
there are other aspects to possable theft of personal reservers..
let them that have ears - hear...

Nothing I can add to what others' have posted here Dave.
What a f'n bummer.
That blows my Buck Brother...

"Unethical goods don't thrive" that's an old German saying. And I promise you, the Big Mac the thief buys from your money will stick in his throat. Other food will poisen him, a Knife will bite in his fingers and cigarrettes will burn his face. Petrol will change to diesel and the new bulb will explode at the first time switched on. The ammo of his hunting rifle ruptures the gun barrel and the umbrella lets the rain pass through. And I know a lot of other things wich will happen to the thief if he doesnt return the money. If he reads this words he will do his best to send the money back or he never becomes lucky again. And let's take the "Haebbie to Post Falls Fund" to find the thief, and when he is cought he has to pay back all the money twice and triply

Well then, Dave, I hope you get it stright again what makes the women angry.

All the best to you two,

Best regards,
Haebbie

NO!
that would let them realy have stolen some thing else of pride from me !!!
i get REAL personal enjoyment from the contest were i give away a knife or raise funds for something..
years ago i worked as fund raiser for transplant receptiants..

due to that there was no forced entry
that means all that have a key were suspect ...
which means some that have keys are famley!!!
i would wish i had not said of the loss of money to
have keep peace in my home...
the message i wish to convay IS
some times the unexpected results from what you think are harmless things can realy come back with sad results...
what the theft took was so much more unimportant then the
peace of my home that went with it ...

what i am saying to you guys is
be carefull and thougfull as some actions we think would or should
not be of importance to our wifes or famley
could in some cases be more harmfull then we could think!!

Dave,

This type of action really SUCKS!!!! It pisses me off big time my Buck brother!!! I hope you find out who it was. As the rogue only took cash and did not take anything else of value....custom knives...jewelry....coins...ECT. It seems like an inside job. Did you ever let anyone see where your money stash was at???

Dave,

I hear you on that point... it's a sad day when something like this happens.

As mentioned earlier, it is likely someone you know... misplaced trust as you said. And, know you will look at some of those that had access, or knowlege with suspicion (sp), and that is sad.

The other way to look at it, perhaps they needed it more than you. And, there is a lesson there for you and for us. Don;t let it ruin the holiday season for you, however, do find (or create) more secure hiding places. Your knives could be next...

Sorry dude that sucks, especially around christmas time! Thieves are scum.
Hmmm do you have any teenage children living with you?
Not that they would take it but maybe one of their friends has "sticky fingers". And if your teenaged child is popular the list of their potentially sticky fingered friends/acquaintances/suspects could be very long.
The fact that the thief didn't take anything else (or bigger) suggests it was a crime of opportunity, a wad of cash is easily and quickly slipped into a pocket none the wiser. All the other goodies in your room would have been too bulky to easily hide on their person.
:grumpy:

That really is a low blow, I would have been a raving lunatic when I discovered it missing.
Just a suggestion, but would you have stuck it in the car somewhere when you went on your trip? If I had that much cash laying around, I would have taken it along as emergency money, just a thought.
The other Dave
