Boy do I feel like idiot after the last 2 months...I couldn't get a billet to weld up for nothing..Long talks with Bruce Bump-Vince Evans-Wade Colter-and Ed Fowler, finally got the problem solved...I hadn't welded in almost a year and had contaminated my Borax with all kinds of dust and possiable brass and nickel silver slatters from casting and didn't realize I had done it.New Borax and the problem stopped,Bump sent me a care package that showed up a little over a week before the Blade show and that is what I used for the test knife.Thought I was going to have to cancel the test but got the knife done 2 days before the show and finished up on Thursday night, man was that close. But I passed thanks to Bruce,he is a Great friend..I was sleeping about 2 hours a day and working at the yard and in the shop,Donna almost had me beat with a 2X4 a few times as I was so crabby and ill,Nothing mattered but getting a billet together..But we survived and now I can get to the bars that were supposed to be out months ago, thanks to those that are waiting patiently,I will get them done soon...
Here is a picture of Bump and me after the test.

For those of you who saw us at the show it was great talking to everybody,My head was still in a spin and I really didn't see much of the show.Donna said sh felt like she was dressed to racy for the show as people were looking at her all day,she still says she is fat and ugly-Sheeesh-I thought she looked great myself...I even got a speeding ticket on the way home because I was paying attention to her and not the speed signs, but it was all worth the headachs and heartachs..Can't wait till next year
If you didn't see Donna and me here is a picture of Donna outside the show,Someone mentioned that they hadn't seen any pictures of her in awhile.

Wow Bruce you were cutting it close :). Are you sure You and Bruce weren't separated at Birth?
Tell Donna the reason the men look is cause she's hot and the women stare cause their jealous.
Congratulations Bro. Dont sweat nothin.

Hi Bruce and Donna
I sure missed not being there and seeing you 2 again and all the others.
Donna If you're fat I don't know where you're hiding it?
u look great ;)

Congrats! I wish I could have met you guys at Blade. :)

Bruce thanks for the tip about the flux. I made a small harpoon the other day. It was not welding as I thought it should. The borax tin had be left open for a few months and gone hard. I have been grinding brass and the borax looked dirty.

It is only a 1/4 pound or less so I will throw it out and start with fresh next time.

It may have been because I was using spring steel from a coil spring of I may have just been having a bad day but the clean borax is a great little tip so I will make sure I take better care next time.

By the way Donna your not fat

what kind of handle is that Bruce?

Nice job on the tests!!

Bruce, Good work, fella. And Donna, WOW! Fat? No way! Yep, you are in the best of company, guy. That had to be really aggravating, doing everything right, and the steel not welding. When the right cuss words don't work, you know you have technical problems and it's time to seek professional help. No, not really a shrink, someone like the esteemed gentleman in your picture. We knife makers can't afford shrinks, anyhow. Not at 25 cents an hour wages we sometimes earn. Nice pictures,Bruce. Now, if you don't mind, I am going to go back and look at Donna's picture again.

The handle is a solid block of curly maple that was dyed with Fiebings leather dye just because I thought the Damascus needed the black handle to show the pattern better.

I thought that I was going to have to go to a shrink before it was all said and done,Now let's see how my nerves hold up to the judging part of this test next year..

Thanks for all the congrats also everybody.
Bruce
