Red Poppies remind us of the ultimate sacrifices of our Soldiers in previous Wars!!
Please wear a Poppy around Remembrance Day to Honor those Great Men and Women!!

I'm no expert on folders that were issued or available to these Heroes, but here are a few likely ones!! Please post yours, and any info or stories you may wish to contribute!Lest We Forget 1.jpg Lest We Forget 2.jpg

Well said my friend.

Thank you for the reminder, Charlie. Veteran's Day always sneaks up on me... my dad fought in the Pacific theater, and made it safely back home, with his only injury being malaria. Many, many others did not make it back. They weren't called the greatest generation for nothing....

Let’s hope future generations don’t try to devalue the sacrifices that have been made by those that never came home. I always wonder about the people that don’t exist because of families that were never created. There really are no “what if’s” in the real world, because we can’t turn the clock back...but it makes me wonder....

I'm carrying this one today from WW1

Just want to wish any veterans or currently serving personal all the best for Armistice/Remembrance day. We had ours yesterday your time, got good media coverage, but due to covid restrictions we could nor attend the official ceremony, which was sad. Take care all.

Armistice day today, usually everywhere downtown you ear the noise of coins in the fund raisers cans. The last Poilu died in 2008, if you travel in Northern France, impossible not to notice the panels directing to a Military Cemetary where Boys from allover the world lie on a ground that went through three wars, where unexploded shells of all sizes and provenance are still regularly unearthed.1.jpg

This is Ma's Uncle Arthur, sargeant, fallen in Artois, 1915, and his father's Aurillac.

Great idea, Charlie -

The following picture is of my late Father-in-law's service-time carry knife.
My Wife gave it to me years ago and it is a cherished memento.
Sadly, I was never able to meet him as he passed before I came into the picture, but I was honored that my Mother-in-Law and Wife trusted me with this beauty.

Dave

Thanks for posting Stew's Blade here, Dave!! I always think of him at this time of year, especially!! Let's remember those who gave so much of their lives, so we could live in freedom and democracy!!

That is a wonderful knife and a wonderful story....... Charlie, it sounds like you had a great Father-in-law....... I hope all my fellow Veterans take time today to reflect on the sacrifices made by so many.......
