I know it is 100 degrees out, but if you want one of these for this winter I would order one now.

I have used this piece of gear all last fall and winter. I have slept in it, slept on it, and worn it several days straight. I wore it to Friday night football games and got a lot of great comments.Everywhere I wore this shirt people would ask me where I got it. When I was at Scouting events people would come into camp just to take a look at this shirt.
I know many people have made their own versions of this. I think that is absolutely awesome. But, for people like me who don't have the inclination to do that this is the ticket.
The craftsmanship is outstanding on this piece of gear. The stitching is straight and solid. All of the grommets and snaps are top quality. I have not had one single bad experience with this piece of gear.

Here is a close up of the gusset on the hood.

It has a monster front pocket. Inside this pocket is 4 other pockets to store small gear. There is also a couple of D rings sewn in to secure lanyards to.

One of the pockets is zippered. It is agreat place to store your keys and wallet.

The sleeves have 2 snaps on them.

You can see me using this Boreal shirt in several of my vids. But this series stands out for me. This shirt was my only outerwear for a 24 hour PSK exercise I did last November.

This is not a cheap piece of gear. They are 250.00 at this time. Some will say that they are not worth it. It is my opinion that it is worth it. Just so you know I was not given this. I traded Jason from Lester River Bushcraft for it.
I really have nothing bad to say about this shirt. If you can afford one I would buy one.

I like it but looking at the 2nd pic it appears the 2 lower gromets don't line up. Why is that?

I was lucky enough to get a used Swanndri off eBay at a good price, but I am still jealous of that one. My friend Ben has one, and it is by far the best constructed bush shirt that I have ever seen!!!

Great stuff

I was lucky enough to find a custom one. Same design but made from an Italian Wool Blanket. Can't wait for winter!

Thanks for the video and link looks like a great piece of gear. I'm going to have to get one of those.

Wow. That is well thought out design. I am going to keep an eye on it and if I come up with some cash.... The price doesn't bother me a bit for a handmade piece of gear.

Cool shirt ... but WOW. $250 is silly.

You could easily pay a local seamstress to sew and tailor such a shirt for you for less.

this shirt is worth every penny. I have one right from Jason at LRB and have used it hard for 3 years now...

I love the design but decided on the Filson Mackinaw Cruiser instead. Quality wool garments are not cheap and I felt the cruiser suited my needs better.

Thanks for the great review.

Looks like a nice piece of kit, had to check in on this thread cause I used to swim at "the deeps" as my mom called it on the Lester river when we visited my grandparents.

I am sorry for sort of pissing in your thread... but I'd check out the wool pullovers by gfredasbell.com.... I can buy 4 of them for that price. I already have one, and it is one heck of a nice piece of kit, I intend to get at least one more. Maybe two.

There is a huge difference between the Absell wool pull over and the Empire. Different weights of wool. (Empire heavier). Feature rich vs feature poor. And last workmanship. The Absell is nice but the stitching on the Empire is superior. I have owned both and both are a fine piece of gear. But the Empire is a Lexus compared to the Absell. I think the Absell is a great way to check out a wool anorak and see if you like it before plunking big money down on the Empire.

I concur wholeheartly with this statement. My Absell is a great piece of kit. I wear it all the time. But the cut and craftsmanship isn't even close. The stitching around the neck literally came unraveled on my first outing. Don't get me wrong I wouldn't trade it for anything but it isn't even in the same league as the Empire or Filson.
