So the plan is to get into my workshop this weekend and finally make some new sheaths for a few of my Beckers.

I've been doing a lot of mods the last month or so but haven't had a chance to make any new pants for my blades.
Gonna be doing some kydex as well as some leather. And maybe some combined kydex and leather.

Question I have is how many of you like the dangler sheaths? I'm thinking I will like it but would appreciate any feedback from those of you who have dangler style sheaths. Maybe some advantages you see to having a dangler? Disadvantages? Likes or dislikes? Over all impressions? Just what ever your thoughts are on the subject.

And is the D-ring style the best style dangler?

And last, How Low Should I Go? How far down do you all like it to dangle? Pommel just below the belt?

The last three leather sheaths I made were scout style so I wanna mix it up. Maybe make it so I wear both ways.

Thanks in advance!

I don't like a knife to ride way up above my belt line, but i also don't like when a knife swings around, its all just personal choice really

But I really like this setup azwelke made me

As a general rule, any knife longer than a bk2 I like to have a dangler for. My reasoning is simple, comfort and maneuverability. When I sit or crouch, a longer blade jabs into the ground and rides up. With a dangler, that problem is remedied.

Edit to add that the 710 had done amazing work and created a bomb-proof system with his leather attachment with dangler. Might be worth you looking into?

personal choice I make the loop flush with the pommel. D rings are easier to work with.

this one I made the loop bigger and it rides to low, as this is an 8.5" blade. It boils down to size and preferences, have fun

Thanks for the input guys.
Looks like Bsmith ties it to the leg. Is it necessary all the time? Does it swing around a lot?
Both set-ups look really nice. The kydex is nice for ability to attach stuff like the pouch and stuff.
Also I think I like the snaps on the belt loop so you don't need to take your belt off to attach or detach the sheath.

Thank you both for the visuals!

I'm going to be an odd man out, again, and say that the factory sheath for the BK-2 (the kydex with nylon loop) is just about the perfect sheath for me. The only thing that I don't ESPECIALLY like is that the knife/sheath sometimes ends up inverted if you don't have the retention strap snapped. Which really isn't necessary just to retain the knife. It is more like a stabilizer strap.

Course I don't know if that helps you at all. I guess I tend toward danglers.

Very nice stuff there zuluninja! And yea the loop at the pommel seems about right. I would not go any shorter for sure. That's about where my stock bk-10 sheaths belt loop is. Might go just a hair longer I think.

Rockspyder, I think the bk-2 sheath itself is fine but the loop is way to flimsily. But a replacement can be make from leather that will fix the problem. I think to many people hate on the BK-2 sheath when the only downfall is really the nylon loop.

for the BK2 either a leather loop or you can cut off the nylon strap and rivets and attach a large teklok, it fits perfectly there

No problem man.
Swing? Nope, not much at all, but it'll still get in the way when I sit or squat. Yes, it pivots out of the way now, but lashed, it never gets in the way. The snaps are crazy handy!!

I think we're in complete agreement.

When I do a dangler for myself, I need it to be in a way that I have no problem getting into my pants pocket. Usually that means a little longer. I like most of the handle out of the way. Much like bsmith, for me a dangler needs to be lashed to my leg. It really is the only way to go.

That makes sense Lethal.
I need to get to my pocket for sure.
Usually I where my knife more towards the back on the next belt loop. Not sure how a dangler would affect that.

I'm sorry, am I the only one who giggled through this entire thread?
