Some advice, let it go! I was working on the basics with my left hand (I'm right handed) when my old brass bali got away from me. Dumb old me decides to save it from the floor. I pulled it in, and got cut! Not bad, just in a bad spot. The outside of my left hand pinky, along the side. 8th inch deep, if that, and a half inch long. Not exactly life threatning, but it would not stop bleeding! I always get cut in the worst spots.

If it gets away from you, let it go! You'll be glad you did.

The question of "whats the worst you ever got cut" has been asked. So, my question is whats the weirdest, or most annoying cut that you have had?

I like to practice over a rug so that I can try to go really fast and do more complex things than usual and when i inevitably drop it, the knife isn't harmed. I think if you aren't dropping it you aren't trying hard enough and if you aren't getting cut once in a while you aren't trying hard enough.

I have a nasty habit of trying to break the fall by sticking my leg out.

The idea is, the Balisong will hit my shoe and spare it a direct hit to the floor. Of course it never works out that way......... and I have the scars on my legs to prove it!

The most painful cut that I ever got was from a peace of runway conduit falling 3 feet onto my bare foot. The brusing was more than the cut. I can only guess at how much it would hurt to get stabed there. Ever gone through your shoe yet?

the first time i ever cut myself was when i tried to save my precious bear from hitting the floor. As i grabbed it i could feel the blade cut my finger but couldnt really do anything about it...that is the definition of things that suck

also, on tuesday i tried to save my 42 from falling on my tile floor my sticking out my leg and it stuck right in my jeans and went in all the way to the tang. Since i didnt get cut I think it was a good choice since Ti-rone didnt have to smash on the hard floor. I did learn the y2k rollover from clay's site in the process though, VERY COOL

I always stick out my leg to try and save it. Bad habit, I know. Sometimes I end up kicking the bali across the room.

I can honestly say the only time I hurt myself while trying to save my bali from a fall was about two days ago when I used my bare foot to try to stop it. it hit my ankle but just put a really small dot cut there; it was nothing

For some time I've had the habit that if I lose one I want to toe-flip it like a hacky sack. Sometimes I luck out and pull it off with a killer retrieval but usually I get a new scar on my instep or ankle.

Weirdest cut?.....you should check out my ankles!

I'm training to break this habit.

Bad habit but I do it too, sticking out my leg to prevent it from hitting the floor .. but that is not my worst cut..

I was trying to slash / cut a flying mosquito while sitting, it went over to my left knee and I got an 1 " wide and 1/8 " deep cut from my weehawk PC international series. I think if I used my utility blade it wouldn't be that deep. At least it proved that the thinner tip really worked

My suggestion would be to buy one of the cheap balisongs that go for around $20-25 (Yes, I remember the days when this meant a lot of money to me, too) and train with that. I realize that these are certainly different in weight, length, etc. than perhaps your better quality knives, and thus practicing w/ the cheaper ones don't necessarily allow for a smooth transition to the better quality ones, but I find that I can adjust well once I've gotten a particular technique down on the cheaper model. And I sure as hell don't care if it flips out of my hand and lands with a loud clang somewhere--I'm not about to sacrifice my skin for a twenty buck blade. I figure if you can handle a cheap blade, it's much easier (than harder) when you switch to handling a better quality blade.

I think that my wirdest cut was about two months ago. I was practicing an areal when my bali ogt away from me, fliped up in the air and went down my shirt. The cut was small but painfull because it was right on my belt line.
