Here's what I woke up to yesterday AM. I figure about a foot and a half. You can get a good idea by looking at the snow thickness on the trailer roofs across the street. I took these pix out the front window while sitting at my desk.

I got the Taurus out yesterday afternoon believe it or not. Took 4 or 5 shots back and forth but I made it. Once on the city streets it was not so bad but I'll take July weather any day over this.

I hear 6 to 8 feet up in the mountains. Ski resorts nearly empty. Roads are so bad people can't get to the resorts.

End of weather report from Reno. I'd trade you, Yvsa.

Brrrrrrr, No Thanks Bill!!!! The helluvit is that we could wake up to the same thing in a couple of days.
Have had it happen before!:grumpy:
Oklahoma and the edges of the surrounding states are known for its extreme weather changes.

Supposed to be 71* here today!:D With a 30% chance of showers. I'll take it, and gladly!;)

Those pics make me cold just looking at them!

Looks like a good place to build a snowman though, maybe one holding a khuk :D

We had that here in Ohio last week...record snowfalls. I had about 24" of *heavy* snow at my place. Warm front (4o's) started in 3 days ago and it's almost all gone now.

Nice snag on that lump Bruise! :D

10 degrees, 6" of snow on the ground, Wife and her Mother on way to Billings soon. Hope it doesn't blow.

It was in the 60s F in central Illinois yesterday. I did an oilchange in my shirtsleeves in late Dec.
We expect temps at 50 for the next few days, with rain.
Sure beats the -5F lows last year - with lots of snow in Dec.

The Kumar Karda managed to kill the lobster tails last night, and came out of it fine!

Wow! Even more impressive to me is- Is that an old Double Wide in the picture? 34B? I have never seen one with a flat roof like that that has got to be one of the first ones manufactured? An antique?

Here in the banana belt of Nevada, we have a dusting of snow on the side the sun doesn't get. Otherwise melted off and dry streets.

Nice pics, Uncle. We got about six inches last night. I'd wonder what 80 looks like right now.
Don't know about 80* but 66* is slightly overcast with a nice 20 mph breeze outta the SSW. I can dig it! :D
We went and walked at the zoo yesterday, shirt sleeves. The only thing was it was slightly cooler and the wind was gusting to 40 mph, made it kinda breezy but still had to wear a headband to keep the sweat from running in my eyes. ;) :D

Edit:
The bad thing is if the weather turns just right we could have tornados in January!
I would Not be digging that! :grumpy:

AFAIC ( as far as I'm concerned ) I look at all snow through yellow colored glasses.

When I moved to Idaho several years ago, I started to hear stories about the Calif Highway patrol and the section of road leading to Reno and Carson city. One gent told me he'd lived in Idaho all his life, driven the worst conditions, and had snow tires when he was pulled over just before crossing the Nevada line from CA. The HP made him drive all the way back down and buy chains.

He asked the Officer if he'd ever heard of snow tires but that wasn't the point- Calif demands chains.

I asked him if he thought the officers were getting a kickback from the local chain suppliers.

The argument I've heard from Calif is that the snow is moister and dumped in bulk, and this mandates chains.

Sounds good. Of course, snow is sometimes moist and dumped in bulk in other places too.

Speaking as the father of a future police officer and the brother of a retired one, I can say that most CHP Officers are themselves "moist and dumped in bulk." :) The first requirement for the job that they teach at the CHP Academy is a neurotic certanity that you are ALWAYS in the right and know better than everyone about everything.

Regards,

Norm

As he was already on the Crest, what sense did it make to drive DOWN with unchained tires to buy chains only to go back up again? It would at least be as unsafe to drive down on the Calif side as the Nevada side.

It didn't make any sense.
