... to my newest love, Ashley...
She is a twin sister to Dave's Jewel, and is a wonderful gal to handle
. She came scary sharp right from the sheath, and showed me right away that she was capable of doing damage...
No blood was drawn... just a ever so deep line across my thumb. Actually the cat put her paw up on Ashly's spine and pressed down as I was testing the blade
. The cat survived her first contact with Ashley... so did my thumb
Anyway, I haven't had a chance to do anything but take these photos (very quick... down and dirty), but the engraving is excellent. The grind is the same, even and well defined. At first I thought the bevel was lopsided from one side to the next (not same angle for both sides), but I think that might have just been my eyes fooling me...
The horn handle is seperated by the buttcap a little, which I think I can fill with epoxy. There is one part where it isn't even with the buttcap... just a little outside. Walosi tells me this is an easy fix too. The horn itself doesn't have as much gray grain line as showed in Dave's Jewel... but there are some there.
Ashley fits her sheath like a khuk should. Perfectly. I'm thinking that she deserves to be treated to a new cover from Sandi... or something else from Terry too.
Once I get time, I'll go up in the hills and let her stretch her legs a bit, then post the results.
Till then

Alan
