Dont tell me I have to start a Hatchet Display in Uncle Henry's and Old Timers in Lil' Bear Hatchets and Papa Bear Hatchets!:jerkit:
Above Ebay item is "Off the Wall" Schrade Walden Hatchet with Staglon handles. How many of these were produced?
Codger you need one of these mate....no..I mean for dressing those Deer! Would almost be a pity to use it wonder if it would make a good thrower.
Any one else got one?

Gee, I should sight in for that one:eek: ! One bullet, one hatchet;) !

Be careful, note size is 11 inches, not really what Id call a axe or even hatchet more like a toy. I purchased one about this size made by Imperial Providence Road Island although a little smaller again it really was useless had very little weight in head!

I guess it may be OK for collector but it would definitely be more appealing if it was standard size and was more functional. But thats just me.

G'day Tim, I gather you had no problem getting the hatchet through Aussie Customs?...or did you call it a shaver?...we're pretty rough here in the Colonies aren't we mate?
Seriously I have not got one press button Schrade in my collection as I have not been game to test Aussie Customs..they let in my 17" bowies and bayonets <after they finish playing with them in the back room> but they get excited about tiny press button..go figure. Hoo Roo

I think my hatchet may have got through because customs spent a lot of time laughing at it. I wasnt aware that they stopped hatchets only double edged knives etc.

Stag too, did you know that officially stag handled knives going through Australian Customs can also be ceased and destroyed !!! It also makes the insurance claim or paypal claim invalid.
I know that in practice in often does not happen but what scares me is that it can !! Im sure you also get the little sticker on your knife packages saying "opened and inspected by customs"

What they do is give the buyer one month to supply documentation stating what type of species the stag is to ensure that it is not from a restricted species (usually like Latin name) if in that time you cant give them the info they put the knife in a big incinerator and burnt it.

I have purchased a few stag knives from the USA myself and they have not stopped them but every time I phone them they tell me they can and should?? I dont get stag knives from USA anymore its just to stressful worrying about postman and customs as well.
Kind Regards Tim

I was not aware about the Stag..they aren't doing their job with the numbers I had through.......I always have Seller put "Collector Cutlery"...and as you know mate here in Oz cutlery is the word for our everyday eating knives and forks and nothing to do with user knives as such. They must think I do a lot of eating...400/500 "eating utensils" You know in January last year for 5 days Australia Post banned the carriage of all knives supposedly on permanent basis both within in Australia and in/out of Australia. Knives Australia Magazine lobbyed Australia Post agressively on behalf of all knife makers/ collectors etc and it fell on deaf ears..then the mealy mouth amoeba brain politicians worked out just what a strong voter backlash could affect their own tiny positions and came to the fray and overturned it. It could happen again anytime so get as many knives in from overseas as you can while you can and join 'Knives Australia' and as a bona fide collector you will receive protection we feel ,just like fire arm owners who are members of gun clubs.....I actually have post office staff tell me it is illegal each time I post overseas..even had some women scream when you declare what it is...they go off speak to a supervisor and come back demurely and do it but most unwillingly....I wonder what their reaction would be if I said collector live hand grenade...they would probably ask what colour it is.....Hello you can go into any KMart and buy a bigger carving knife any day of the week...non collecting non appreciating non knife people are morons anyway IMHO....It takes a human to do the damage and not the knife never seen an animal pick one up yet and come back at me with it!!! My epistle today..Hoo Roo

Yes I can understand it both because they unpack all knives into Australia (man hours) and becuase stupid people occasionally pack knives loose in boxes and the knives stick through box and severely injure postal workers who must sort through packages quickly.

They are not as strict on stag knives coming from USA as say from Africa, but it was explained to me that if a customs officer was having a bad day or I guess also if labelling was bad then he could seize it. "Discretionary Power"
