In an effort to bring some attention to my forum and also to Oklahoma knife makers as well as to celebrate my new forum I thought I'd do a contest.
Ray Kirk, ABS Master Smith from Talequah Oklahoma http://www.rakerknives.com/ and I worked on a few knives together here recently when I asked him to make me some blanks out of his award winning 52100 forged blades. He consented and made up a total of three blades. As you can see looking around here I did two folders up recently and Ray kindly told me when he heard about my idea to do a give away that I could count the third blade as his contribution to the contest and celebration.
So, with Blade Show in Atlanta over and everyone settling in and getting back, here is the knife pictured below. Its not a bad little folder at all. The blade is a performance oriented steel that goes along quite well with the utility design of my bare bones folders. It is a .070 thick 6AL-4V titanium frame locking folder sporting one of my signiture low rider pocket clips and given a bead blast finish to go along with the utility bare bones EDC user persona of the knife.
Rules are as follows.
One entry only per individual. Please check to be sure your number is not taken. If you chose a number already spoken for yours will be disqualified. I just ran a similar contest at the Spyderco forum for one of my modified Rescue knives and it went quite well doing it this way so we'll do it that way here.
Check out Ray's site at the link above, and feel free to check out some of his links and then look around my forum and please post a comment elsewhere if the urge strikes you. Then after browsing a bit pick a number between 1 and 2500. The person coming closest to the number I have selected without going over the number will win this custom knife. I have sent the number I picked to Spark before the start of this give away. He and I are the only ones that know it.
Finally, I do not mind if those of you overseas wish to participate here but I would ask all of you at this point that in the event that one of you wins the knife please consent to pay the $11 flat fee to ship it to you Global Priority mail or to pay the shipping even if your country does not allow Global or International Priority mailing. If the winner is in the USA I'll ship for free. If this does not sit well I'd ask that you not participate. Sorry. Shipping that far is just a bit much.
You might note. This is not a second. I kept the second for myself! This one here is a nice little knife that will make a great user for anyone and especially those that loves carbon steel. I'm sure once it gets some character and ages with that patina carbon steels are famous for that it will be that much better.
Also, the smudges that appear on these scans are not on the knife. Its the glass on my scanner. Hey, it needs cleaned like my shop, what can I say?
Its pouring down rain here so the digital will have to be later. Perhaps before the contest is over I can post some outdoor better pictures of it for you. I'll see what I can do.
I'll run this contest until Wed the 13th of June unless we start running out of numbers or something!
Good luck.
