My pics are nearly always scenery shots so I decided today that they would all be close ups !

Closer isn't always better, somethimes tracks such as this Deer track are clearer when observed from further away....

Fern spores on one of my favourite ferns...anyone know which it is ?

the fern as far as i can tell without other pics looks like sword fern.
 
What was the fern?

Licorice Fern.

Native uses:

According to Gunther: Rhizome is roasted by the Makah, peeled, chewed
and the juice swallowed for coughs; Cowlitz crush the rhizome, mix it with young fir
needles, boil it, and drink the infusion for measles; the Quinault either bake the root on
coals or use it raw as a cough medicine.
Chewed for flavour and used as medicine for colds and sore throats; also used with
bitter medicine as a sweetener (Pojar).
 
as always a great adventure when viewing your pics. that monster may be evidence that the invasion has already occurred.all that green is nice we are in another drought in austin.hope snickers & maisey are doing well.--dennis
