Let's have a show of hands.

How many Buck Collector club members do we have here at the forums? How long have you been members? I joined in 1989. What do you collect and what do you carry? I collect Bucks from the custom shop. I carry a Siberian Impala handled 503 and a Mastodon handled 532.

John,
I will join this survey. I am life member #402 and joined the BCC in 1993. I collect factory production knives from 1961 to present and also all Buck Collectors Club knives and any other Buck which commemorates the Club, the Buck company or the Buck family. Now that is a huge target!

I carry a carbon fiber Odyssey Model 182 with ATS-34 as a daily carry knife. I have a Pete's Custom Shoppe 110 with stag in BG-42
for cleaning rabbits, the only hunting I do.
I use a 1986 or 1987 MiniBuck model 425 in black for field dressing the thumpers. It is the best value for the money to be had in all of the knife world, in my opinion. It holds an edge like crazy, is easy to sharpen
and is very easy to clean.
Finally, when I feel nostalgic I carry an old
Buck / 110 / U.S.A. Folding Hunter. It is old and I got it used and beat up, but sent it to the Buck factory to be refurbished. I think I will always like the old Bucks best.
Finally, I used to carry an old 309 daily but sadly lost it somewhere.

Finally, I have an old Rapala fillet knife with a 4 inch blade which I have tried to replace with a Buck Fishlocker. Sorry, I have filleted too many trout, bass and pan fish over the years and nothing else seems right in my hand!! Old habits are hard too break. I once suggested that Buck knock off the small Rapala, but my suggestion went nowhere. I wonder why??!!
Anyway, if you will forgive the Rapala habit which is the same knife I've used since 1970
or so, I am a BUCK man through and through!!

Larry,

I was not aware that you collected knives that commemorated Buck and family. Those knives alone would make a great collection. YOu do have an ambitious target to hit, especially with all the new factory knives that Buck is putting out.

BCC Lifetime member since January 2000. Heh, I just upgraded from my annual membership.

I have a CHP knife and a Texas Sesquicentenial knife that I got from ebay.com.

I recently obtained the '98 and '99 BCC knives, and a 1999 Chuck Buck signature knife.

Lately, I am looking for other signature knives from the Buck family. (How about it, CJ?)

How could i pass up this topic?
I am a Charter member, number 123, of the BCCI. I have been a member since 2/93.
I am not a knife collector, i am not a knife collector, i am not a knife collector-i Have to do that or i will end up with way too many knives!
I am trying to put together a collection that will contain a knife made by each of the Bucks. I have one from Hoyt, one from Al, one from Frank. I am trying to locate one made by Chuck Sr. and one from Cj.

Too often i am carrying a knife to field test it. Not necessarily my knife of preference.
When i hunt, i carry a stag handled Mini Mentor. If it were possible, i would probably carry about 50 knives with me cause i have such a hard time finding a favorite. But i am NOT a knife collector!

Greetings all.
I'm a Buck Collector's Club member, #557 lifetime since 1999.
My collection is not too specific, but I favor the 500's and the 530's.
I carry a 501+ with jigged bone scales on my belt and a 309- in pocket.
I think this forum is impressive. The discussion and information is great. And the knowledge and enthusiasm of the members is amazing.

Until next time, take care...

I am also new to the club, as of '99. Have not got a clue what direction I should take in collecting. I thought maybe, everything...

I, too, am a life member, since late '98.

I like the 110s, but not any special year or markings, just different scales or filework or.... from any that I already have.

This forum IS a kick. It gives a place where we can talk to others who might be impressed with a little factory filework or a different colored sheath. Not much chance for that at my place...

All the folks at Buck who are so responsive to us knife fanatics amke this a much more enjoyable "hobby"!

Poor Joe.... just keep saying that, over and over and over.... if it works let me know?

Brian,
When I first started collecting, I felt just like you do, I wanted to collect everything. Eventually, I realized that I favored the customs and I started to narrow my direction. I would bet that you will reach that point as well. In the mean time buy every Buck that you can!

OK John, sounds good to me! Now, hang on a sec while I get my wife over to the monitor, ok, now, tell her that I need to go through this initial binge before I settle down and focus on one direction

Hi, Count me in, met members of the Buck Club
at the Blade Show this past summer, was
invited to dinner and later joined. At
The NKCA Show and Buck Club Regional Meeting I took advantage of the life membership offer. My "Buck Anything"
display only had 6-7 pieces, At our
Wolverine KCC Show last week it had more
like 20-25 pieces, so it is contageous.
With bucks being a secondary collection
for me, primarily I collect the "canoe
pattern" so we have to work on The Buck
Family to develope a true canoe pattern,
which has been a time proven pattern for
knife manufacturers like, Bulldog, Case,
Boker, Fight'n Rooster, to name a few.

I'm a BCC member, #622 ('99).

My main interest is the 532 Bucklocks. I have several in mastodon, cherrywood, walnut, master series, jig bone. I also have a 501 master series and 3 100's. When I carry a Buck knife it is usuall my custom 110 in Asian Water Buffalo scales and a BG42 blade. The nices Buck knife I own....and a beauty.

Good thread John, thanks.
