I just got this yesterday at the Lewisburg PA knife show, it's a stout folder!
And both blades are nicely ground to quite a thin edge too!

It's a Case 6231 1/2, a Case XX 6 dot code, which I am lead to understand
that it was made back in 1974, back while I was in the Navy

Wanted to give this folder it's own thread, here are some quicky photos;

I’m not sure why the original threat closed. It doesn’t really matter, but I’d love to see and hear about more examples of the Case 6231 1/2.

Here is one I picked up recently. It is a 1965-69 example.

Thanks, Dan. So the 31 is closer to a 77 or 78, but the 35 is larger, more like an 86?

The Case 31 (3-3/4") is larger than the Case 35 (3-1/4") - they look identical until you lay them side by side. OH

This is a 5235 1/2 1920-40. Don't have a 31 to compare sizes. It's closer to the size of a #15 GEC.

Here's a 1979 (1 Dot). I carry it and use it frequently. 3 3/4"

Bruce Old Hunter clarified it in his post above. Also, in Ed's Modoc ED pic above, the top knife is the 31 and the bottom is the 35. I really don't keep track of GEC patterns so am not sure how they compare. I will go through my GECs and see if I have a 77, 78, or 86.

Thanks guys, I had 'em switched, and neither one is as big as an 86.
