By partner I mean your slipjointed friend. :) Mine is a Case 62032 in CV. That is an Amber bone Texas Jack with a clip point and a pen blade. It's been there for me since I got it, through thick and thin. I havn't had it all to long, but since the day I unwrapped that white box it has proudly rode shotgun with me. I have a sense of pride when I carry/use it. I keep thinking to myself, that one day I may pass it on to a grandchild. I am only 30, so it has a lot of years of use coming up. I use the pen blade for most personal chores like opening mail, cleaning my nails, or other light cutting. The larger clip is used for all the other good stuff. Everything from food to boxes and everything in between. I keep it sharp on a Spyderco sharpmaker, and oil it with either Militec, or MD Labs XF-7. When the bolsters need a touchup, or the blade gets any staining I turn to MAAS polishing cream. So there you have it. We are a happy duo. Let's here about your pal. :D

My constant carry is an old Hoffritz camp knife that my mother gave me back in about 1967. (she managed a dept. that sold kitchen knives and got it from her distributor). Teflon coated blades. One large sheep's foot, a can opener blade, combo screw-driver bottle opener and an awl blade that is pinned on the center of the back. (GAAAHHH went hunting for a pic of one like it but all I can find is that tactical crap)... a bit like the Camillus boyscout knife except the scales go clear to the end with no metal end caps and the awl is in the middle on the back so you can hold it like a cork screw.

Sometimes carry a Queen #48 whittler or a Bulldog Wharncliff whittler.

My oldest and most storied slippie is my Old Timer 8. That little beauty has seen me through camp trips across 12 states, Canada, and pretty much every major life event for the last ten years. I am starting to retire it, slowly. Losing it would be too hard to take.

Most recently I've been alternating a Buck 311 slim trapper, Buck 313 Muskrat, '73 Case 6318HE yellow stockman, '76 Case yellow slim trapper. Throw a Schrade or Boker stockman in there once in a while and you get my drift .

Just to make you guys drool I'm awaiting delivery of these two. They are going to be users .

Case Canoe in Amber & CrV.

It takes a wicked edge and is never out of place or thought of as a Weapon

Nice and smooth finish that you just cant stop rubbing on your pant legs to see how shiny you can get the bolsters :)

I have been giving this some thought and my most loved pocket knife of all is my SCHRADE 8OT . It is also the best cutter I have ever had .
I don't carry it much anymore , I think I am afraid of wearing it out .

My pocket pal is a Crowder custom medium trapper. It has nickel silver liners and bolsters and ATS-34 blades. I carry it in a WH pocket case to keep it from being scratched. It's razor sharp. Fit and finish is good. It has fileworked liners.

My second choice is the excellent Texas Toothpick by Queen. Four inches of razor sharp blade in a slim package that disappears in your pocket.

This veteran Robeson jack was a gift from my father in the late 1950's. I've had it quite a long time so I think it would qualify for being an "old" partner.

schrade 8ot that I bought 10 years ago for 2 bucks, and brought it back to life.
