As many of you may be aware, it's been a rough fire season for us out here in the West this summer. The latest, known as the Butte Fire, exploded in the Central California foothills this past weekend, right in Phil Wilson's neck of the woods. At one point, the fire was growing by 3500 acres per hour.

I got word from Phil this evening that he was in the mandatory evacuation zone and while physically safe himself, is unsure of the current status of his home. No smoke, but lots of prayers being sent his way in the hopes that his and his neighbors' homes will be spared.

Indeed. Rough fire season that just keeps on destroying ... from what I gather of the news coverage we receive here. It just doesn't seem to end. My strongest hope for safety of everyone in the path, everyone affected, everyone fighting it ... and for hearth and home of course.

I live pretty close to where the Butte fire is burning and would be happy to help if it turns out Phil is in need.
