Ok, I was sharpening my Tenacious and reminiscing on how much I like it and use it, so I decided to see what I could do to improve on it's daily carry perfection!
Ok here are some of my ideas, add your own, or suggest ways to accomplish them!
Center the blade!, I'm looking for a way to center the blade, w/o tightening the blade closed? I don't know how to do this, when it is nice and flickable, the blade rubs the liner. Maybe teflon washers on the non liner side?
Polish the blade, I'm working on this one on my own, it cuts better even than before!
Clip, Maybe put a low rider on it?
Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!1

blade centering can be adjusted by loosening all of the screws, pushing the blade to the opposite uncentered side, holding it there with folded or stacked paper or something similar, then re-tighten all the screws. you may have to fiddle with it a couple of times to get it just right.
i made new scales for my tenacious, used green linen micarta, and also added a micarta backspacer with raised jimping to increase purchase.
i'm happy with the clip, i carry my folders tip up, but added a fob to make retrieval easier.

now i have a personalized tenacious that's unique and all mine.
good luck!

Nice work, Don. I've been thinking about a similar project also using Micarta.

Did you have any problems removing the original G-10 scales? Did you use the old scales as a template? How easy is the Tenacious to reassemble? I know some folders can be really tricky and I only have 2 hands to work with. Any tips you can share would be appreciated.

well what i want to do to mine is get new bushings replace the screws posibly new scales i was thinking 3d g10 and rounding off the spine oh and dont forget to polish the blade

Give it this treatment. What a great looking knife. One of the nicest looking knives I have ever seen.

Thanks Powernoodle! I already started to do this, it feels so smooth, but doesn't look as nice as Micheal's!

Another thing, my caliper is at another house, so I can't measure the distance between the screw holes in the clip. I like the knife, but it is a little obvious in the pocket. I like mine to ride low profile, so I don't attract undue attention! If some one might measure this distance, I would be very greatful! Thanks ahead of time!

thanks for the compliments guys!
with the proper tools this would be a fairly easy project. i on the other hand only have limited tools- old scroll saw, dewalt drill driver, and a rotary tool.
i used the g-10 scales as a template and worked everything down by "hand".
a bastard file and sandpaper was also used.
keeping the holes centered can be tricky, and the other hard part was relieving the scale for the linerlock.
as far as dis-assembly, the lanyard tube makes it hard to separate the liners. some have said that it is flared on the ends,. mine wasn't, just fit very tightly. i had to take some care in not bending the liners. i used a section of wood that fit between the liners to gently pry them apart.
reassembly was no problem for me at all.
also, i have heard that the screws were prone to strip, so be careful and make sure you have the right size bits for them. another thing is defeating the locktite thats used on the scews. a little heat helps, via a soldering iron.
it's time consuming doing it the way i did, but like i said, with the proper tools, and some time and patience, it's a fun project.
and, if your not happy with the results, you can always put the original scales back on.
good luck!
thanks again!

this is a rough guestimate, but the screw spacing for the clip looks like it's @ 480/1000".

Thanks for the tips. I have read of lanyard tube issues before in removing scales. I can't recall if it was on a Tenacious or another model. I was planning on using a mostly a dremel (plus jig saw attachment & drill press stand) and a belt sander in addition to hand work.

Great photos too, BTW.

Looks great. I love my tenacious and have thought of modifying mine a bit but everything fits me so well I choose to keep it stock.

if you look at the liner there are circles, i always though that cutting them out would look different.

Ditto on the micarta slabed Tenacious :)

You mean cut them out of the scales? Those are the skeletonization holes in the liners, they are already cut out of the liners??
