If you were a knife designer what would your designed production knife look like and what knife company would you collaborate with to have it produced ?

I'll start.

This design is not very unique Because it's just a classic turn of the century hunter Bowie, but it is something we don't see today in an affordable production knife.
It's overall length would be 8-¾ with a 4-¾” long 1" wide ⅛” thick 1095 blade, a 1/16" thick brass guard, and a 4" handle with hickory scales that tapers from 7/8" to 3/4".

I would call it the outlaw hunter and , and I would have it produced by Ontario Because they could use the production methods and materials of the old hickory knives to bring this to market for around 30$ with a basic sheath.
It wouldn't have to be part of the old hickory line, but would only difference from them production wise by the addition of the brass guard and the basic leather sheath.
My first choice would be Ontario, but I think imicasa / condor could do it just as well.

I'm not a believer in grail knives, but I would want a modern take on a single blade sowbelly. Pocket clip and single, reversible thumb stud, screw construction, but with the good looks and thin stock of a traditional knife. Full hollow grind to make it slice like crazy and K390 steel so it keeps doing it for a long, long time.

As for company, after seeing their Roundhead Barlow, I would want LionSteel to do it.

Pretty close to yours, there:

Not quite the same swedged-saber grind though. Handle and guard are pretty much dead on.

It's similar, but the guard seems shorter on the top and the blade / grind is a little different.
It is close though.
One reason I would want OKC to make it is because the could leave it with the rustic type finish seen on the old hickory knives but without the pattern found on them.
It's also got that riccasso that looks like the kick on a folder which really doesn't look right.

It would probably be a small pikal ringed fighter not much bigger than the Shivworks clinch pick. However it would have a modified Besh Wedge tip that presents the wedge at an angle for great tip strength without losing too much penetration ability. The knife would be double edged and chisel ground on opposite sides to allow for this wedge set up. That way I can just flip the knife over into a perfect edc knife. Charlie Mike would make it because that's who will make it.

Got a best attempt at a drawing of your design ?

I'd reconsider the Besh Wedge aspect.
If you're hitting meat/closh/leather and looking for efficiency, I'd go with a needle point. I'm a butcher by trade and I've ringed out this dilemma

I realize I will lose some penetration capability but I am going to use a modified wedge that greatly improves penetration while still giving me an unbreakable tip.

It is probably time I do a drawing.

It would sure help us see your vision.

My favorite design is the backspring ringlocker à la Okapi/Kudu. But I'd really dig a new option with a drop point blade to counter the usual clip point. (I'd even spring for a few more bucks for some higher end steel just for variety.)

Mine would look awful lot like a Al Mar Eagle Classic with "talon" blade and stag or bone handle. Add a clip like the Spyderco wire clip and you have my grail knife.

It might look like this.

I have the prototype, just waiting for a manufacturer to contact me.

Manufacturing is one thing, making an actual sale is quite another
So by Taking the path with the least resistance,
Functional movie or tv themed knives is an ever ready market.
So if for instance a Bowie,
Why not replicate a near exact model
as seen in the hands of a strong fictional character...

Who should manufacture?
Obviously It's impossible to name any one outfit
Willing to produce such knives comparable
if not lower than off shore Oems.

It would look like a bradford guardian with less belly and would have more of a cqc7 style handle with a type of finger guard that allows you to put it in between your index and middle finger if you waned to choke up on it

Ok, but who would you collaborate with to put it into mass production ?.
The point of this is not just what kind of knife you'd love to see made, but who you'd want to make it which tells us how you see a certain company.

Mission, obviously ;)
