Blade shape, Oversized handle, made in America, awesome steels, sprints and exclusives (PM3's in sure coming) it's like you can get one in any length you want

Even the locks are all the same, wait nope

Well the you have your choice of RH/LH tip up down too, errr nope

Does anyone else think (hope pray) there will be a military 2 soon ?

No!

Military 2 is a sell out to millennial whining. I hope they scrap the idea all together.

Military!

If they made the military as tip up optional, I'm not sure what could kick it out of my pocket. Especially in S110V. I love my blurple military, but it gets carried in pocket because the clip is in the wrong (for me) spot.

ETA: the new police 4 is looking mighty attractive. I just want an S110V variant

So to answer the OP's original question, yes I hope for a Mili 2

I hope this thread is in jest. There has been news of a Military 2 for quite a while.

I think to many people write the military off because of tip down carry. Try it, it really isnt an issue at all

Even though I prefer tip up carry, with handles as long as those of the Military, the tip down carry is somewhat convenient . It allows quicker access to the thumb hole. But since 95% of my other knives are carried tip up, quick access to the blade of my Military is screwed up by my muscle memory of my tip up carry.

I agree. I prefer tip up, probably with the millie as well, but it isnt really that big of deal. Its good to get accustomed to both ways anyway imo. I carry left handed knives sometimes just to change it up:)
But for those who can't wait, there are people out there who could tap some holes for ya and plenty of aftermarket pocket clips. Or trade someone for a LH clip who wants to do the same.

But back to OP, yeah still interested to see how the military 2 turns out. Will probably still prefer the original more though(i like liner locks and the light weight).

I've never understood the whole tip up vs. tip down thing. It's not even on my radar as far as whether or not to buy something.

A pocket clip looking ridiculous, leaving half of the handle sticking out, tearing up upholstery or being uncomfortable I understand. I really don't care about the orientation though.

Tip up on a Millie would require either monstrous hands or adjusting your grip after removing it from pocket. I'll keep the tip down setup thanks. I could do without the lanyard hole though. Seems odd to stuff a lanyard down into a pocket.

Thread needs a pic:

Maybe it's the individual knife I have (doubt it, the detent is strong) maybe it's the pants I wear (could be) or maybe it's me (many will probably assume it's me...I don't really care) but my military has opened up on 4 separate occasions while being slid into my pants pockets tip down, slicing the pocket open and nearly slicing me open.

Close calls and getting my wife to repair pockets means that tip down is now a deal killer for me.

I still carry the knife often, either in a jacket pocket or in my pants pocket tip up without use of the clip. That speaks to what a great knife it really is. I don't find carrying it tip up is any more difficult that any other full size knife, though I do have long fingers.

I couldn't agree more.
I've thought about it and tried simulating getting my Millie out, tip up..
I would never want to have to do it in a hurry or a tight spot.
I much rather grabbing the hole and dropping the handle, with a flick of my wrist.

Comparison shots, of the 4, coming shortly.. [emoji106] [emoji6]

Snagged some pics.. late night pics aren't the best!

Sal has stated more than once that the plan is to have both the Military and the Military2 in the product line at the same time. The Military2 is supposed to have a power lock and four way clip which means full liners which means more weight. I guess they will be different enough to keep both around.

So have no fear, both you and the whining millennials can get what they want. I hoard Militaries so Imcould care less. I have enough to last the rest of my life. ;)

I'm hoping to get one of the KW S90 CF Ti militaries as my first one and then tap the Ti for tip up carry if I can't get over tip down

Also thanks for the pic of the entire family

I bought a Millie back in 2009 when I was in the Army. It is a great knife that has performed flawlessly and could handle tough jobs.
Sadly, I have been out of the loop as far as Spyderco news. The mention of a Military 2 has me pretty excited. I prefer bigger blades so the PM has never been my cup of tea. I am glad the Millie is finally getting some love and a much needed update.
