let's see some freehand edges

This pic is cropped too closely (though I really think the macro setting on this camera should do better) but it's a CPM154 chef's knife by Butch Harner, last two steps were a 10K Naniwa SS and 1 micron diamond on leather. That's almost redundant, but I do find the leather helps blend in my 'freehandedness' from the stones.

Sharpening freehand has a nice accomplished feeling, and it's a constant learning process. Each time I sharpen I notice small mistakes in my technique or something that I could do better. Its humbling, I'd say.
