I had a Mora laying around for a while and I wasn't really thrilled with the plastic handle so I decided to change it.For antler.

I drilled out the center of the antler and made 2 cuts to accommodate the wider parts of the blades tang.

once I got it seated in the handle with the epoxy I wrapped the transition point with leather and colored the antler with Japanese ink.A little sanding and this is what I ended up with....

Nice mod !

Looks much nicer now :) I've modded the two Mora's I have but i'm at work and can't take pics now...

In spite of what a great knife the various Mora's are , I hate those cheap , plastic handles..

Wouldn't really call it a mod, it's more like completely new. Only thing saying Mora is the Logo, the rest is totally different.

Holy smokes that's pretty.
I'm thinking about buying some of the utility ones with the red wood handles. The book "Bushcraft" the author talks about them extensively. They look quite modable.

Tom V,

WOW!! That is a great looking MORA you have there. What model did you start with? What's the specs on the blade?

Thanks for posting the pics.

Thanks for the kind words. I bought a bare blade, don't know the specs.

I think it is similar to the normal models. Handle fits the hand well, and I have Xl gloves. I gave the knife away as a present, so all I can do more is give you a link about how it's made;

That first one of Andrew looks lovely classic. Real nice.

Kind regards,

Tom

Hand made copper bolster worked from a chunk of copper pipe.

Cherry burl handle turned on the lathe. What do you guys think?

Cool link! BTW, where is the file work on your mod? :)

The most I've ever copper was for a wrap, and have used heavy gauge wire for rivets and pins. The ferrule is genius, leads to lot of other ideas, and it ages beautifully.
