Dive knives, river knives, ocean knives, PFD knives, whatever...

This one is in W&SS because I'm thinking about dedicated knives that might save your bacon near or in water.

I'll start. Here's a Benchmade H2O that I carry on my kayak PFD's.

I just use a cs mini pal laced through my trunks when we are on the lake. Entrek Javalina with my mini kit in glove box of boat. Just recreational stuff, skiing tubing and the like for me.

I have this Ocean Master in unobtanium - a little overkill for the snorkeling I do :)

I thought I had a picture of mine:mad: Anyways, just received a nice Rainwalker sheath for my Bark River Wet Enviro...a great blade for this oppressive humidity when I'm in/around water:

Here you go...top one (handle is G10):

Myerchin Rigging knife, the serrations have since been removed by John(Stomper).

Although it isn't stainless, I always have my JK EWOK with me. It went swimming when I overturned my canoe recently and with just a wipe down with mineral oil later it was good as new.

Now sez you..."Why is the shield on the Benchmade reversed in some of these pics?" (original post versus the pics above) Sez I... they fell out, and I wound up epoxying them back on the opposite sides. Benchmade actually sent me some brand new shields. And when I explained that I wanted to buy a second sheath so that I could attach it to my other PFD and swap the knife out between the two PFD's, they just sent me one. Kudos to Benchmade for some great customer service there.

Nothing special for me, just the same knife I use for everything else at the moment.
A re-handled 4" carbon Mora. Fishing knife, boat knife, archery knife, hiking, backpacking, etc.

Some reason a lot of people think you can't use anything other than stainless on the water, but I've even taken this guy out ocean fishing and haven't had any problems. Sure it's not a shiny as it used to be, but it's still as sharp as ever was...

Where did you get that marlin spike? Is it possible to turn it into an awl?

Edit: Nevermind, I see they're made by the same people that make the knife. I was hoping for a spike half the length.

You know I have, and can afford nice knives, but I haven't found one to replace this cheap one by United. I know it looks "mall-ninja" :o ...but it fits a nitch for me that I haven't found a better choice for.

I don't necessarily feel that I need serations or a tanto point, but this knife is perferct for when I am only wearing swimtrunks at the beach or river, as the sheath allows me to clip it to the inside of my trunks. The knife and sheath together are still very slim in profile. The result is that the whole knife is 98% hidden from veiw. Very discrete. I've never had anyone notice it before, so I feel comfortable wearing it even at a public beach.

I Like that it is a fixed blade for added strength. And it is strong. I've used the chisle shaped butt of the knife for scraping, digging, prying, and improvised screwdriver. I've also used this for throwing with out any real dammage.

I like the look of some of the othe blades pictured above, but none of them would quite be able to take the place of my cheapo knife. Though I'm always on the lookout for one that will. :)

Stomper(JK knives) and Bikermikearchery both have made them. Perhaps you could contact them and have one made to your specs.

Always in my trunks at the see. Around normal water I carry and swim with what I have on my. Used to be the Burger Large EXK clipped to board-shorts, or my Small Regular Sebenza, dont have either any more but will in future again. The Burger is N690 Bohler.

My PFD blades get a whipedown as they come out of the water, and everything else is stuffed in a 100% dryproof NRS Bill's Bag anyway. I don't have any (more) knives that are water specific, for the most part it's a marketing gimmick. I used a Kabar 5 1/2 inch as my dive knife in Florida with a self made sheath I stitched and glued together with military webbing. The one water knife I did have I donated to the river gods last year, the sheath was torn from my PFD. (which is another reason why I'm kind of peeved about the whole entire water specific knife deal.) If you can't manufacture and market a sheath to go with your 100+ dollar knife that will hold up to whitewater use, then what's the point? I may be going back to a drop leg style sheath. Might need to hit up the hardware store for some odds and ends buckles and stuff...

Salt 1 and a Ladybug Salt for when I'm in the saltwater. I made some Kydex pants for them to keep them secure.

Sorry, I'm not sure what it's name is. I bought it at a sporting goods store about ten years ago, and I don't know if they are still around. :o

All I know is that it's sold by United.
