Even if I never bought another knife I probably have enough knives to last me the rest of my life. But despite the cornucopia of cutlery I have at my disposal, I noticed that whenever an especially dirty job comes up I reach for a specific knife. I don't know what it is, but part of me just hesitates to use my better knives for certain tasks. So when someone asks to borrow a knife, or I need to do something like cut sandpaper, I reach for my Kissing Crane Brown Mule. It's not the best knife I have, far from it, but when it comes to doing the nasty stuff there's nothing better.

Here it is with my Imperial cattleman -

Do you have a designated beater? Let's see them!

Hi,

I guess I have designated hard users too. I don't have pictures of them though. I tend to either grab my Vic Soldier or a Buck 371. Both are beefy enough to stand up to some abuse. And the blades are more forgiving and easier to repair.

I like your Imperial! Are the Kissing Crane Mules still made in Europe? Yours looks like it has a carbon steel blade.

actually knife nut beaters are probably for the most part way nicer than the average persons beater, we need to get the squares to post their beaters:D
that would probably be an eye opening experience:eek:
btw that imperial is awesome:thumbup:

An old old carbon opinel # 8 or an equally old mercator get stuck doing everything from prying rocks out of the garden to scraping paint. Oddly enough I think they hold up better than many of the trendy brands and styles.
