I like the coating on my Beckers, but there's just something about nekkid steel.

At first I was looking to strip mine, if not just for sexiness, but I kind of like the beat-up look of the used black finish... Every job I use it for gives it a little bit more character.

After seeing that BK-9 though...

alas, the only stripped Beckers i have came that way from the factory, which is to say: pre-Camillus models and BK-77s of Camillus and KaBar eras.

maybe someday i'll see what's underneath. eventually the coating MUST come off from use :>

Did a convexing on my BK2. Thought about stripping the BK9, but can't bring myself to do it. I like battle wounds.

No secondary bevel on that baby!!!

Some people sand the coating off and some use a varnish stripper. Let it soak for about 10 minutes and the coating peels off. Then you need to do a little sanding with wet dry paper and she is there. I used one of my vertical belt grinders. I think I used the 1x42" for that one. 2x72" watched with interest.

Interesting. I had wondered if the newer micarta fit the older Beckers. Got my answer there. I may try some Ka-Bar scales on a knife or two. :thumbup:
