I have one on backorder:D and since have read "thefifth's" thread on lockup, am a bit concerned they may all have a lock lug about 97%(+-) over to the "other" side of the knife.....and....CRK says it normal!

How does yours look? Show us please, in close up.

I AM jumping the gun(admitted), but isn't the Forum just for these things?
I would like a few more photos to compare.

Thanks!

NOTE: I know full well CRK will stand behind anything they sell and have not had the occasion to return any of my knives to the factory.

Here is my Umnumzaan's lockup:

I certainly would not worry about the lock ups.....do you think Chris Reeve would put out a bad product...and if there ever is an issue, Chris Reeve has some of the Best Customer Service in the business. :)

Almost exactly as T.K.C. has his, the ceramic ball is right around the 40% point of the lock face :) ...

mines the same as above if I open gently, for my pix I flicked the knife open putting the lock at its furthest point which actually puts the ceramic ball dead center of the blade

MOST ENCOURAGING!:D Thank you all.

and bigmark, I know, see my "NOTE" on my first post.

I read your note, it just seems that alot of folks are concerned about the lock up because it is something that is new to them.

Now if someone was posting that the lock up would not release or the blade had play .... then i would understand.

The deeper the lockup the stronger it is !!

The lock up design is very hard for makers to perfect.

As i have stated in another thread, i have owned alto of knives by custom makers (some the flavor of the week) that have major lock up issues.

I have had knives that i have sent back to the makers to have the lock up issues dealt with only to have it returned with the same problem.

I personally think Chris Reeve has done a great job with the ceramic ball...of course only the future will tell.

My umnum is now well broken in and is now smoother and sweeter than ever. :)
