Let's see what the fuss is about

Well, after a year of reading about them, I just bought myself a CRK knife. After debating on which one, I decided on an Elderwood inlaid Mnandi. Yes, it was hard choosing between a small Sebenza and the Mnandi but I really like the classic look. I'll probably end up with a Sebenza eventually, but I'm in no hurry.

Now the waiting begins. Come on, USPS!

Don't you just hate that time lapse between the point when you've finally cleared the mental hurdle and put your money down, and actually getting the knife in hand? It's torture!

Good call on the Mnandi. The Box Elder is simply gorgeous. Post some pictures for us when it comes in!

Great choice. They do have a classic beauty. I want a mnandi, b b but I want an Umnumzaan and more Sebenzas too.

Good choice! The Mnandi is a personal favorite. I got one in my pocket right now.

That's a good looking knife. :) If this thing turns into anything like my Spyderco addiction, I'm a dead man.

Congrats! The elderwood is awesome. Dan, you are a doomed man. You may be much the poorer but you will have some awesome folders. Welcome to the madness!!!

The Mnandi is too fancy for my daily wear. I have a Sebenza for that. My Sunday-go-to-meetin' knife, though, is a Mnandi.

But you really can't go wrong with either knife. Nice choice! :D

Wow, that's an absolute beauty. I'm already thinking about how to finance a small Sebenza for EDC. I may have to sell a few knives soon. How about I start a small vs large Sebenza thread? It's only been done a million times.

It's amazing how once you cross a line, the next ones are so much easier. A month ago, I would have said $300 for a folder is insanity.

mnandi are amazing. i have a bark mammoth ivory with stainless damascus in my pocket right now.

Are you having fun checking the USPS site trying to track your package? You will really enjoy your new CRK when you get it.

As others have mentioned, it is all down hill from here....

It's here! And it's amazing. :D

I'll post a photo when I get home. My cell phone camera won't do it justice.

The fit and finish is above the best examples from any other manufacturer I've seen to date. I'm amazed how tight the pivot is and yet allows for the smoothest opening and closing. Absolutely no play in any directions. Wow.

I knew it was going to be light but this is featherweight. And being so light, you would expect it to be delicate as well. But this thing feels solid. It's quite different to any other small, lightweight knife I've owned. Normally, small knives are light and flimsy or heavy and solid, you don't expect both qualities in one knife.

This spells doom for my CC. I need a Sebenza for EDC.

Congratulations Dsmegst.

That IS what the fuss is about.

I would wait a day before ordering a Sebenza.

That way it looks like you at least tried to show restraint.

Well, it's happened. I'm really really sick. :( I've just committed to buying a small Sebenza, a whole 12 days after my first CRK purchase. I'm even considering thinning out my collection to finance further knife purchases. A large Sebbie to go with the first 2. Then on to other models... I am actually worried.
