Hey all, I've been digging the utility that a small 3.25" serpentine jack has to offer. I love my peanuts, but they can be on the small size for my giant hands. I tend to pair my peanut with another larger knife (usually a 15), but recently I've been wanting a single knife that I can slip into my pocket on days when a single, smallish knife is all that is required. To me the 3.25" serpentine jack is a great compromise between the peanut and the GEC 15. I have a few older Camillus knives that fit the bill, but they are all Delrin, and I'd really like some awesome bone on this knife! I'm open to anything, but size and carbon steel are musts.

So, let's see what y'all have laying around that fits the bill! I'll start things off with one of my favorites:

Thanks in advance!

I'll be following this with some interest.

closest i can find is the case texas jack (3 1/2")
and the small case jack (3 3/8" i believe and stainless only as far as i can tell)

I have two that fill the bill.

Shot of inside the frame, note lack of spacer which means this frame can be used to house a Stockman pattern as well.

Here's a Camco at just under 3 inches and a stockman variation at just under 2 3/4, a german knife.

On the other end of the scale; lot's of old 3-1/4" shell-handled jackknives floating around out there, cheap with good steel. This one was made by Imperial. OH

Now your talkin'. I'm looking for just the right one of those myself. I'm downsizing my pocket carry and although I love my Peanut, I prefer something slightly larger and 3" or so seems to fit the bill.

For comparison here is the 2006 version of the Case 53087 - believe I like the 1971 better! Of course this one would be a bit cheaper on the wallet. OH

3 1/4" seems to me to be a rare bird. I only have one and that is the Case in stag'

Here's a couple at 3 1/2"

Everything else is way bigger.

Thanks for all of the great replies so far! To me the smallish serpentine jack is just a timeless classic. I am surprised there aren't more options currently in production, especially with natural covers. I like the looks of the Queen, though I prefer rounded bolsters and am not sure I have the patience/skill to get the D2 the way I'd want it. I have a feeling this is going to be more of a journey than I bargained for. So far I have two Camillus 14s, and an old Imperial.

After searching yesterday I ordered one of the current Case offerings (like the one OH posted) and a USA made 33OT. I'm sure they will both be capable, but they are both Delrin, and only the OT is carbon...
And the current Case 22087 Serpentine Jack Knife. OH

My 33OT just shipped. I'm excited about this one as the only Old Timer I have is the substantial 8OT. I'm thinking I might have to drive out to KSF and check out the Queen in person...maybe this weekend.

I'm still interested in what you all can dig up, so please keep the suggestions coming :D

The 33OT and the Case medium jack both arrived this week. That puts my small serpentine jack collection up to 5 now. I have to say that out of all of them I think I prefer the Case medium jack the most. It's not carbon and it's not bone, but it fits in the hand like it's meant to be there. It is also the thinnest of the group, with the exception of the old Imperial. Another thing I am really liking about this knife is that it has a long slender pen blade, considerably longer than the Old Timer and the Camillus. I think I am going to spend some time with this one and see how it grows on me. With the exception of the SAKs that usually ride backup, this will be my first shot at a stainless EDC. I doubt it will kick the Charlow out of my pocket, but it will ride shotgun for awhile. I still plan on checking out the Queen, but for now it'll be the medium jack.
