Let's see your bottle opener, and what you think of it.

To start things off, mine is this without the tweezers or toothpick:

It seems mostly satisfactory. A time or two, it seemed to just pry it up without removing it, but proper technique seems to prevent that.

I seldom drink bottled beer that has twist offs so I often was stuck trying to find an opener. I thought about carrying a SAK or similar with an opener but I like slimmer knives. About the only time I drink away from the house is at family get togethers so it isn't a problem that comes up often and since I smoke as well I decided to try one of the Spyderco Byrd designed combo tools. Knife, lighter, bottle opener...perfect for cookouts and picnics. And you can use whatever color you want to "customize" it.

Atwood prybaby. Has opened quite a few beers as well as performed as prybar & screwdriver.

Best of all, I am allowed on airplanes with it!

Gee thanks for adding another items to my must have list. Good thing they are relatively cheap. That thing is very cool.

Do you really want me to post a picture of my right thumb and first finger?:D

I have "lost" several at parties...lol...I try to keep a couple at home at all times.

I carry an extra-thick Atwood Prybaby on my keychain, but my favorite bottle opener is an old Ibis Hand Job. Ibis used to be a bicycle company that made sweet steel and titanium mountain bike frames, and they made these cool bottle openers that were in the shape of a little hand (hence the name). The company went under, then the name (but not the spirit) of the original company was revived.

For cycling fans, there is also the Richard Sachs dropout bottle opener keychain that s cool, and my singlespeed Surly 1x1 has Tuggnut chain tensioners that also have a handy bottle opener on them. Nothing like a beer after a ride! :D

It is nice having a decent blade, lighter, and opener in one package...especially when hanging around the pool or on the river. just less to carry. Of course at home this fellow handles the chore...

I got tired of never having one in the right place at the right time so I made this one to fit in my wallet, which I always have with me and usually have plenty of room in because it is never cluttered with anything extra, like money.

I just use a disposable lighter. I don't smoke, but they are handy to have, and others often carry them too. In fact if you get good at it you can use a thicker stick to do it too. Works great when your camping and don't have a bottle opener. If you want to see how to do it go here:

Many thanks for that link to the video.

While I was there I found this one

1000 ways to open a beer - the original!!!

I don't think they showed 1,000 -
but there were plenty, and pretty impressive too.

and -

How to open a bottle of beer with a piece of paper

I am no where near as skillful - so I just use my SAK combination tool's bottle caplifter -

Still use a Bic Lighter, I don't smoke, but they're good to have and can also pack your fist if you need to "negotiate" with someone.

I love this video. Reminds me of summer: http://youtube.com/watch?v=WtVoBbWcmz8

I have a Victorinox Waiter with bottle opener deployed in my pen-tidy on my desk, a Victorinox Manager on my keyring (the bottle opener isn't that good, but it does the job), and in the kitchen I just use the door handle.

I always have a Utilikey on my keychain as a back up tool. Works plenty well as a bottle opener among other things.

I've hand my Skeletool CX for a couple of days now. I have to say, this thing ROCKS as a bottle opener. I have dozens of multi-tools, but my number one need for them is as a bottle opener. For those unfamiliar with the tool, just hook the edge of the carabiner over your bottle cap and pry off. Pops it off about as well as a vic lifter and is much better than the standard leatherman combo cap/bottle openers that cut into the cap.

I use the Firebyrd, too. It works fantastic. Or I have a little gold bear from REI on my keyring. But the bear doesn't have a knife and a lighter so it's not nearly as handy or cool.
