My wife and I work for an airline so we travel often to see different parts of the Country. Of course, any knife must be in your checked baggage so, this is my newest travel knife.
All the requirements. Blade, seat belt cutter, bottle opener (for beers of course!)
Just renewed my NRA membership and this was my gift.
Let's see your "travel blade" that if you lose it, who gives a shit :-)

I actually just through an exercise to pick cheap travel knives. Settled on Opinel No6 Inox (I file/grind to a straight clip blade) or a cheap Maxam folder that is less than $6 (I remove the useless pocket clip.). Bought a few of each, plus I'm pretty sure they aren't going to quit making Opinel's any time soon. Don't know about the Maxam's, but they have been around a while, though nothing like the 100+ years of Opinel.

My SAKs are about as disposable a knife that I own now that have versatility. I do have a few Rough Ryder slip joints that could be used for this conveniently. I haven't flown much in the last 20 years. Don't miss it a bit.

My travel knives are always SAKs.

Cheap to buy, easy to find if need replacement, and good quality and versatility. What more can you ask of a pocket knife?

Come to think of it, thats why I carry a SAK as EDC.

The Ruike is a great knife for when I travel. If I’m somewhere unfamiliar I like to carry a budget knife and this one is great for that purpose. Great action, fidgety and not a tragedy if it’s gets lost or stolen.

I buy a soda, drink the soda, rip the can apart with my teeth and bare hands then use one of the edges of the torn metal as a cutting tool.
But
that's just me.

While in Thailand I picked up an auto knife for $3, ditched it before I went to the airport, not worth getting in trouble for it.

I tend to find cheap gas station knives where ever I travel now. Cant board a plane with a knife anymore so why even bother imo

For me, a travel knife needs to be a useful tool that’s discrete, somewhat stylish and not a POC, but at the same time something that won’t devastate me if lost or nicked from luggage

The Gent was relatively cheap when I bought it. It’s a decent knife with a useful length and unobtrusive EDC, but I’ve never fallen in love with it (or fully understood the hype).

A decent knife without emotional attachment or a car payment replacement? Perfect travel EDC.

If I didn’t have the Gent, I’d take one of my Delicas.

View attachment 1188863 I turn my knife into a kit, 1/2 of which is carried on. The blade is checked into luggage. The handle, parts, and tools are carried on. Thieves are lazy and are not looking for a project.

The opinel is great for when you're traveling overseas, especially to Yurope because they really view the opinels as "picnic knives".
