Hey guys,

Having an issue with my sheath tearing the hell out of my knife (at least that's what it feels like). I know that scratches come with the territory, and because this is my daily work knife, I'm okay with it not being pristine. But it did get me to thinking. Most people post pics of their knives in new condition. No one ever posts pics of their most beloved beat to crap work knives. I would love to see some of y'alls daily use knives in all their battle scared glory. To kick things off here is a pic of the knife I mentioned.

Just spit ballin' here. So if I've jumped to the wrong conclusion, please let me know. But.... If you only wanted to see the knives of other bladesmiths, then this is probably the right place. But if a wider audience is desired, you may consider asking a mod to move it to the "General Knife Discussion". It'll be seen by about a million more people.

Just in case it's ok for regular people like me to contribute, here's my EDC stuff. The pic does a good job hiding all of the dents, dings, scratches, and anodizing weardown. But these get carried around and used everyday.

Very nice setup! I literally love everything about this picture, down to that trick s-carabiner. I did think about posting in the general section, but I am really interested in the bladesmithing community's work. I'm not a production knife hater by any stretch, but love to see the knives that people create after they have been used as a tool. Not something I see much of it seems.

great stuff everyone ! the top blade is by morris pulliam, had it since around 2005. the bottom one i made, it was a second. i had ground the finger curve too deep and hit the epoxy hidden tang pocket  i use them for landscaping and when i am out walking in the woods with the dogs. my house is in a 20 acre plot of woods there are lots of grapevines that grow up the trees and strangle them. i always swipe them in two when i walk by. some can be 3 inches thick and they take a few chops to get through. the copper wire around the throats of the sheaths keep me from slashing thru the sheaths when putting the knife back in, as i have done in the past.

I'm really digging this thread. It's interesting to see these big bowie knives getting some use. I'm so used to seeing the glamour shots of knives like that, I assumed they were all safe queens. Would you guys mind sharing what you use them for? Are they actually useful in processing game? Like, only really large game? Most hunters I know carry something around the 4" mark. Might be a naive question, I've always wondered what the average life of a big custom bowie is like.
